Sevilla have parted ways with first-team manager Diego Alonso with immediate effect following Saturday's 3-0 LaLiga defeat to Granada.

The 48-year-old leaves his post with the Spanish club being dragged closer to the division's relegation zone and currently only above the drop zone on goal difference.

Alonso held his role for just 67 days after being appointed in October and has been in charge after just 13 games, with a record of just two wins. Both are coming to the Copa del Rey.

Sevilla posted a short statement confirming that they had fired the Uruguayan head coach and will now look for a new permanent replacement.

“We would like to announce that Diego Alonso has been relieved of his duties as head coach of the first team. We thank him for his efforts and wish him the best for the future,” Sevilla said on their official website.
