Servers reveal which celebrities leave the best tips after one hospitality worker claimed Post Malone signed off his bill with $3,000
Although the concept of generous tips is considered somewhat strange outside the US, for American diners it is a necessity. And one famous American put others to shame, according to wait staff.
An anonymous Reddit user who claims to have been serving for nearly two decades took to the forum to reveal that rapper Post Malone was “a great person and a great tipster.”
They attached a photo of a receipt from the rapper that appears to show he gave them $3,000.
The Redditor, so inspired by the White Iverson singer’s generosity, added: ‘Such a genuine and cool guy. This begs the question. What celebrities have you served that were really generous? Any surprisingly cheap celebrities?’
In response, people revealed the best (and worst) celebrity tipsters on the Server Life sub-Reddit – with many agreeing that Post Malone is the most generous tipster they’ve ever come across.
One anonymous user, who claimed to have ‘been serving for almost 20 years’, took to Reddit to describe Post Malone as ‘a great person and a great tipster’, after revealing that they had a massive ‘$3,000 fee’ received.
One person wrote: ‘I worked at a place that did a pool house. Post Malone came in with a band, and we all made rent that night. Thanks Posty!’
More people talked about the singer’s selfless nature, which he is known for. One person said: ‘I’ve never met the guy, and don’t like his music. But from what I’ve heard of him, he deserves respect.’
While others joked: ‘I don’t know how to explain this but it’s 100% Post Malone’s handwriting without me ever seeing it.’

One reader compared the singer to Keanu Reeves, who is also known as a ‘nice guy’ in A-list circles, declaring: ‘Generous and very kind. We must protect him at all costs’.
Another waiter expressed their gratitude for the award-winning artist: ‘People can judge Post Malone all they want, but we know he has our back in the service industry.
‘He sees the invisible. Dude sounds like he has a heart of gold by all accounts, which only increases my respect and admiration for him.’
More people praised the Chicago rapper, who often works with Tyler the Creator in his collective Odd Future.
One Redditor claimed they “randomly ran into him twice on the street many years apart” and were acknowledged with a nod and a wave. He’s a real one’.
However, Redditors implied his mentor Tyler the Creator wasn’t such a friendly tipper: ‘His bandmate Tyler the Creator stiffed one of our servers’.
But another waiter came to the Californian rapper’s defence: ‘When Tyler came to our restaurant he tipped 50% of the bill and gave tickets to the two servers who were waiting on him for the party he was having that night played’.
And another user quipped: ‘Tyler is definitely the type to make a decision whether he loves or hates someone almost instantly’.
Other celebrities seen as generous tippers include rapper Earl Sweatshirt, who tipped 100% of the bill, according to a server in Beverly Hills.
The anonymous hospitality worker said: he was ‘extremely respectful’ of staff.
