Sergio Aguero separates from his model girlfriend Sofia Calzetti after a four-year romance as she denies kissing a man at a nightclub
Sergio Aguero has split from his model girlfriend Sofia Calzetti after a four-year romance.
The announcement comes after a video surfaced of 27-year-old Sofia kissing another man at a nightclub.
Manchester City footballer Sergio, 35, confirmed the news on his Twitch channel.
And Sofia insisted that despite the breakup, she still loves her ex “very much”.
Speaking to Argentinian journalist Angel de Brito, she said: “Many things are said that are not true. Everything is fine, we have a good dialogue, but a lot of nonsense is said.
All over: Manchester City footballer Sergio Aguero has split from his model girlfriend after a four-year romance as she denies kissing a man at a nightclub
‘I am not in a relationship. He (Aguero) is a person I love very much and I have a lot of respect for him.
“The causes of the divorce are between us, relationship problems.”
And when she talks about that video of her supposedly kissing someone, she maintains her innocence.
She said, ‘I saw something, I went dancing with friends, we had fun. Nothing anymore. There is no kiss.”
Sergio was previously married to Diego Maradona’s daughter, Giannina, for four years. They divorced in 2012 and have one son together: Benjamin, 14.
Meanwhile, Sergio’s teenage son was quick to deliver a sharp remark to Paris Saint-Germain as the club took to social media to say goodbye to Lionel Messi.
The youngster saw his comment go viral on Instagram, gaining more than 96,000 likes, after claiming the legendary Argentina captain was taller than the French champions.
Messi is known as a longtime friend of Benjamin’s famous father, with the pair often rooming together during Argentina’s away games, and Aguero was present at the country’s longstanding World Cup celebration in December.
But it was the son of the iconic Manchester City striker who took to Instagram to defend the Argentine talisman.
The club posted a number of images of Messi on their Instagram account, captioned #MerciMessi, after it was finally confirmed after lengthy speculation that the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner will leave Paris this summer.
And Benjamin seized the opportunity to express his own opinion on the matter, writing, “He meant a lot to you.”
However, Agüero senior is not Benjamin’s only relative in football.
The youngster is in fact the grandson of the late Diego Maradona, widely regarded as one of football’s greatest talents and the precursor to Messi’s status as Argentina’s idol.
In fact, Messi himself is his godfather, thanks to his strong relationship with Aguero, putting Benjamin in the privileged position of having family ties to three of the most prolific players in football history.
While his father, Sergio, was forced to retire in 2021 due to heart complications – after joining Barcelona alongside his great friend who went on to join PSG – Messi has continued his stellar career.
