Sergino Dest ‘could miss NINE MONTHS’ with knee injury suffered in PSV training… as potential timetable for USA defender is revealed

Sergino Dest could be sidelined for up to nine months with a knee injury, according to a new report, as a possible timetable for the American defender has been revealed.

Dest, a Barcelona right-back who has been on loan to PSV this season, confirmed the injury himself on Instagram, while PSV acknowledged he would be out ‘for an extended period’.

And according to The Athletic, that absence could last until early 2025, with the outlet reporting the nine-month timeline Monday night.

The Athletic also announced that PSV wants to make Dest’s transfer permanent, as the defender provided seven assists in 37 games this season.

Dest’s injury means he will miss the Copa America, which the US men’s national team is competing in this summer.

The 23-year-old was part of the US squad for last month’s CONCACAF Nations League victories over Jamaica and Mexico.

The United States, along with Bolivia, Uruguay and Panama, have been drawn into Group C for the Copa America and are firm favorites to advance to the quarter-finals.

The first match of the tournament for the Americans is on June 23 against Bolivia.
