Serena Williams Reveals What She Really Thinks About THAT Oscar Slap From Will Smith And Chris Rock

Serena Williams has shared her thoughts on the shocking moment Will Smith slapped Chris Rock at the Oscars almost a year ago.

Speaking with Gayle King, 68, on CBS Mornings, the tennis star said everyone deserves a forgiveness.

Serena said that she has sometimes made her own mistakes, reminding viewers that “we are all imperfect and we are all human.”

‘So King Richard had that moment at the Oscars, how did you feel about it?’ Gayle asked the sporting ace.

“I thought it was such an amazing movie, and I feel like there was an amazing movie after that with Questlove that was overshadowed,” Serena said.

“But I also feel like I’ve been in a position where I’ve been under a lot of pressure and made a lot of mistakes.

‘I’m the person who says, ‘I’ve been there, I’ve made a mistake. It’s not the end of the world”. We are all imperfect and we are all human and let’s be kind to each other.

She finished: ‘So that’s often very much forgotten.’

King Richard is the movie that tells the story of Serena and Venus Williams and the mentoring of their father, Richard Williams.

Will plays Richard in the movie.

Will slapped Chris Rock at the Oscars in March last year, making international headlines.

Chris, who hosted the show, joked that Will’s wife Jada looked like ‘GI Jane’ because of her bald head.

He had recently revealed that he suffers from alopecia.

Will stormed onto the stage and slapped Rock after fuming: “Keep my wife’s name out of your fucking mouth.”

He went on to win Best Actor for his role in King Richard that night, but didn’t specifically apologize to Chris.

After the incident, Will was seen partying all night with his family at the Vanity Fair Oscar party, dancing to his own song Gettin’ Jiggy Wit It as the crowd cheered.

Will has since been banned from the Oscars for 10 years for slapping comedian Chris, but will be allowed to keep his Best Actor award.

However, a few days later he apologized in an official statement saying his behavior was “unacceptable and inexcusable” and left him “ashamed”.

“Violence in all its forms is poisonous and destructive,” he wrote.

However, a few days later he apologized in an official statement saying his behavior was “unacceptable and inexcusable” and left him “ashamed.”

“My behavior at the Academy Awards last night was unacceptable and inexcusable. Jokes at my expense are part of the job, but a joke about Jada’s medical condition was too much for me and I reacted emotionally.

‘I would like to publicly apologize to you, Chris. I was out of line and I was wrong. I am ashamed and my actions were not indicative of the man I want to be. There is no place for violence in a world of love and kindness.’

In November of last year, Will spoke to Trevor Noah about the incident, saying there was “rage” inside of him that night at the Oscars.

He also added that when he got home after the ceremony, his nine-year-old nephew was waiting for him and had seen the slap and asked him, ‘Why did you hit that man, Uncle Will?’

Struggles: In December 2021, she shared how she had been battling alopecia and encouraged her Instagram followers to ask questions.

Will then pulled out his tissues and looked at Noah, joking, ‘Damn. Why are you trying Oprah with me?’

He added: ‘It was a disaster, you know. I don’t want to go too deep to give people more misunderstanding.

After talking about his new movie, Noah joked that they hadn’t seen him in a while, when Will started talking about what he said was “a horrible night, as you can imagine.”

‘There are many nuances and complexities. But at the end of the day, I just… lost it, you know? Will admitted.

‘I was going through something that night, you know? Not that that justifies my behavior at all…’ she admitted.

They were many things. It was the little boy who saw his father hit his mother, you know? All of this arose at that moment. That’s not what I want to be,’ he said.

‘I was gone. That was a rage that had been bottled up for a long time,” Will said.
