Sennheiser upgrades its Accentum model and still undercuts the high-end options
Sennheiser is upgrading its mid-range Accentum wireless headphones with a Plus model that introduces a number of new features while remaining affordable.
The cups on the Accentum Plus now have touch controls. According to the announcementBy tapping and swiping on the surface, you can adjust the volume, control the media you’re listening to, or activate transparency mode. The latter allows outside sounds to leak through, so that you can hear the world around you better. Or if you prefer a more traditional method, the company’s Smart Control app lets you make the same adjustments. On Smart Control, Accentum Plus owners have access to a “5-band equalizer” and a sound personalization mode that allows people to create personalized audio profiles.
The other new feature is called Quick Charge, which gives you “five hours of extra listening time” after the headset has been plugged in for about 10 minutes. When you have the time to fully charge the headphones, you can expect up to 50 hours of playtime.
As with the standard Accentum model, you have hybrid ANC (active noise cancellation). This time it’s adaptive, meaning the headphones will dynamically adjust the level of noise cancellation to better suit the environment. If you walk down the street and there is construction going on, ANC will be more robust. Please note that when this feature is active, the battery will drain quickly.
Shared functions
Most of what we’ve discussed so far are the few differences between the Sennheiser Accentum and the Accentum Plus. Everything else is the same. For starters, each cup is equipped with a 37mm driver that can produce deep, bassy sounds. The headphones also have multipoint connectivity, allowing you to switch between devices seamlessly via Bluetooth 5.2.
Phone calls via the Accentum Plus remain crystal clear, the company claims, thanks to the automatic wind reduction function on board. Then there’s Sennheiser’s own Sidetone software, which lets you adjust how much of your voice you want to hear during those calls. It can help to modulate your voice. This way you don’t talk too loud or too soft.
