Senator John Fetterman has zero tolerance for Democrats who criticize President Biden ahead of the presidential election and say they might as well be Trump supporters.
“If you’re not willing to just support the president and say these things, you might as well put on your MAGA hat because you’re only helping Trump,” the Democratic Pennsylvania senator said in a statement interview on MSNBC. Tomorrow Joe on Thursday.
The outspoken senator made no bones about going after members of his own party who have publicly gone after the president, as Biden faced a barrage of concerns about his age, as well as policies like immigration in the war in Gaza.
“I don’t know what’s in it for you to do that, whether you’re just out for power or you want to be in the news or something like that,” Fetterman said.
The freshman senator warned that it will be a very competitive presidential race in the state of Pennsylvania, but he predicted that Biden would win.
“The president is going to win here in Pennsylvania, and I’ve always believed that whoever wins Pennsylvania is going to be the next president,” Fetterman insisted, but he said that “it’s going to be tough.”

President Biden won Pennsylvania in 2020 by just over 80,000 votes, after former President Trump turned the state red in 2016 by fewer than 45,000 votes.
An Emerson College poll of Pennsylvania voters in February showed the race in the Keystone State as a dead end, with Trump polling at 45 percent while Biden held 43 percent. It showed independents and women breaking for Biden, while Trump received more support from men.
Fetterman has been a staunch ally of Biden since before he took office. He did not shy away from having the president appear at events with him as he campaigned in his own tight Senate race in 2022, despite the president’s low approval ratings in the midterm elections.
Just days ago, Fetterman also traveled to Nevada to advocate for Biden’s re-election, where he described the president as a “tough son of a bitch.”
Fetterman has defended concerns about the 81-year-old president’s age and mental acuity after special counsel Robert Hur’s report raised questions about his memory.
The senator, who faced his own health issues when he suffered a stroke while running for Senate in 2022, pushed back on the report, calling it a smear and a “cheap shot.” He said Biden is “absolutely in complete control.”
Fetterman has also drawn criticism from the progressive wing of the Democratic party because of him vocal support from Israel in the aftermath of the October 7 terror attack.
The senator has rejected calls for a ceasefire, while calling on Hamas to surrender and return the Israeli hostages home.
