Selling Sunset star Chelsea Lazkani and estranged husband Jeff declared legally single amid divorce

Selling Sunset star Chelsea Lazkani is ready for a fresh start after being declared legally single.

A judge recently approved the dissolution of the marriage, TMZ reported on Tuesday.

The 31-year-old reality star was in the middle of a divorce from her husband Jeff Lazkani.

Chelsea, whose divorce has played out publicly on her Netflix reality series, previously agreed with Jeff over their desire to be declared legally single, according to court documents obtained by the publication.

Although the two are now legally single and therefore free to remarry if they wish, the two are apparently still negotiating a divorce settlement to finalize the matter.

They reportedly filed papers asking the judge overseeing their divorce to declare them single on Monday, and the judge’s decision came after a hearing earlier on Tuesday.

The exes still have the potentially difficult task of dividing their assets before their divorce can be finalized.

TMZ previously reported that it was Jeff who first asked the judge in October to split the divorce process and declare the former couple single, and Chelsea appears to have gotten on the same page since then.

Although Chelsea was the first of the two to file for divorce, the process was delayed as they struggled to quickly agree to a settlement.

In his previous filing, Jeff reportedly told the judge that he and his ex would still settle custody and support issues regarding their children, as well as their asset division, once they were both declared single.

Chelsea had previously requested joint physical and legal custody when she filed for divorce.

The real estate expert and her ex-husband – managing partner at the advertising agency Icon Media Group, founded by his mother – share two children: son Maddox Ali Lavon, five, and daughter Melia Iman, four.

The Selling Sunset star previously filed for divorce from her estranged husband in March this year, citing irreconcilable differences.

A week after her filing, Jeff shared his own filing, which also cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for the split, although in his filings he accused Chelsea of being “physically aggressive.”

He accused her of punching him in the face shortly before reporting the crime, causing his glasses to break and a small cut.

He also accused her of installing a lock on the master bedroom of their $2.9 million, five-bedroom home in Manhattan Beach — which he said he is the principal owner of — and of remotely monitoring his visits to the house.

Jeff claimed in his filing that his reality star wife was “exhibiting suspicious behavior,” and he claimed that some of his personal belongings were missing from the home.

Because of their dispute over the marital home, Jeff had asked the judge overseeing their divorce to prevent either of them from living in the house full-time.

Instead, he requests that Chelsea be allowed into the house under supervision for only two hours at a time.

The two had been married since 2017, when they tied the knot at the Resort at Pelican Hill in Newport Beach, California.

In 2022, Chelsea revealed to DailyMail.com that her future husband was her first Tinder date after moving to Los Angeles.

The real estate agent, born in North London to Nigerian immigrant parents, said she planned to live alone in California for as long as it took to get her MBA, so she was hesitant to put herself into the dating market.

But after trying out the dating app around 2015, she and Jeff hit it off immediately.

‘We spoke about fifteen times before we got together. “I don’t want to waste my time and give my energy to someone if I don’t think it’s going to be worth it,” she explained. “I felt like I knew him before we met, and the connection was instant.”

Some fans of Selling Sunset were disappointed with the particularly dramatic turn that season eight has taken, as it focuses more on the personal conflicts between members of the Oppenheim Group than their real estate business.

Chelsea and her colleagues may also be in trouble, as Netflix has expressed a desire to focus on crowd-pleasing reality competition shows in the form of major television series like The Voice, rather than the kind of conflict-driven, cable-style reality shows that Sell Sunset represents.
