Selena Gomez slams body shamers as she details struggle with SIBO: ‘I don’t look like a stick figure’
Selena Gomez is shutting down body-shaming backlash after some social media users claimed it looked like she was ‘hiding her stomach’ on a recent red carpet.
After coming across a now-deleted TikTok video that analyzed how she posed, the Only Murders in the Building star, 32, responded to criticism of her appearance.
Responding to the comments that spoke cruelly about her appearance, the actress reminded the world that she suffers from lupus and several health problems that affect her weight.
“This makes me sick,” she wrote. ‘I have SEBO in my small intestine. It’s flaring up.’
She continued, “I don’t care if I don’t look like a stick figure.”

The singer concluded her comments by writing, “I don’t have that body. End of story.’
SIBO stands for bacterial overgrowth in the small intestine, which happens when “the passage of food and waste products in the digestive tract” slows down, creating “a breeding ground for bacteria,” according to the Mayo Clinic.
The condition is usually caused by surgery or illness. Symptoms include bloating, stomach pain and malnutrition.”
Not only did Selena have a kidney transplant, but she also has lupus.
Fans overwhelmingly supported her in the responses to her comment.
“The internet is everyone’s biggest hater,” one aptly wrote, while another wrote: “They bully her for everything, it’s so heartbreaking.”
“Ughhh, she’s so perfect,” another fan gushed.
Last week, Selena shared an adorable video of herself in the dress in question dropping her ballot into an official ballot box on her way to the premiere of Wizards Beyond Waverly Place.

Some fans thought Selena’s red dress meant she was voting for Donald Trump, as red is traditionally the color of the Republican Party.
But Selena is an outspoken Democrat and has been highly critical of Trump’s campaign, especially after comedian Tony Hinchcliffe called Puerto Rico a “floating island of trash” during the Oct. 27 rally at Madison Square Garden.
Selena, a Mexican-American, said she “completely disagreed with the comments that were made,” referring to the disparaging remarks against the island by the since-disgraced comedian.
“I definitely want to stand behind my people,” she added.
