Selena Gomez shows off shiny new medal in NYC as Emilia Perez cast receives coveted French honor

Selena Gomez stepped out behind her in New York City and the cast of her quirky French musical film Emilia Perez received a coveted French award on Thursday.

Gomez, 32, stars in the Spanish-language crime comedy about a ruthless cartel leader who fakes his own death to turn into a woman.

The Jacques Audiard-directed film also features performances by Karla SofĂa GascĂłn, Zoe Saldana, Edgar Ramirez and Adriana Paz.

Gomez and the rest of the cast of Emilia Perez received the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres at Villa Albertine, the French Institute of Culture and Education, in New York.

The honor is awarded to individuals whose art, literature or other creative works have made an “important contribution to the enrichment of French cultural heritage.”

The prize was awarded to them by the director of Villa Albertine, Mohamed Bouabdallah, diplomat of French culture to the United States.

The billionaire thanked Ambassador Bouabdallah and Villa Albertine as she shared photos from the ceremony on Instagram.

“Thank you @mbouabdallah_ for honoring my cast with the Chevalier dans l’ordre des Arts et des Lettres tonight at @villa.albertine for Emilia Perez!” the Disney Channel alum wrote.

She included a selfie showing off her medal, as well as images of the cast clinking champagne flutes with Ambassador Bouabdallah.

For this special evening she combined her tight blazer dress with black pumps with shiny gold heels.

Gomez’s long brunette hair flowed in straight strands down her back and chest.

As for her makeup, the Rare Beauty founder paired a matte pink lip with sexy smokey eyeshadow.

Her cheeks had a rosy, radiant glow and bronzing powder helped sculpt her already beautiful features.

Gomez has had a busy week in New York, with Emilia Perez premiering at the New York Film Festival on Monday

For the event at Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall in Manhattan, the brunette beauty hit the red carpet in a figure-hugging black halter dress that showed off her noticeably slimmed-down figure – fueling Ozempic speculation.

Selena’s brown hair was styled in a tight bun and her makeup artist added a bright liner for the occasion.

Just like Thursday, she was once again joined by co-stars Zoe Saldana, Adriana Paz, Karla Sofia Gascon and Edgar Ramirez.

Selena stars as Jessi Del Monte, the wife of a transgender Mexican cartel leader, in Jacques Audiard’s critically acclaimed film, which opens in select theaters on November 1 before streaming on Netflix on November 13.

“Making this film was worth all the blood, sweat and tears,” Gomez – who has 648.8 million social media followers – said last week.

‘I’m extremely proud of this project, Jacques, @karsiagascon @zoesaldana @adytapaz @edgarramirez25 (the whole family) and can’t wait for you all to see it! This movie changed my life!’

Emilia PĂ©rez currently has an 87% certified fresh rating from critics (out of 63 reviews) on Rotten Tomatoes.

The film had its U.S. premiere last month at the 2024 Telluride Film Festival, after taking home a major prize at its world premiere in Cannes in May.

During her time in New York, Selena also attended Sabrina Carpenter’s sold-out Short n’ Sweet Tour concert at Madison Square Garden.

Selena sparked controversy when a video of her seductively dancing to Emilia PĂ©rez’s handsome co-star Edgar during the concert went viral.

Concerned fans thought the video was a sign that Selena’s relationship with music producer Benny Blanco, 36, was in trouble.

But Selena put an end to the wild speculation on Tuesday.

She did so by sharing a new clip of her and Edgar dancing at another concert, with the humorous caption: “Omg how dare I dance with my bestie.”

Selena confirmed her romance with Benny in December 2023 after secretly dating the musician for five months.

Since then, Selena has given Benny a lot of attention on her social media and he was her date to the 2024 Emmy Awards last month.

The couple has been bombarded with engagement rumors since Selena showed up in LA in August with a ring on her wedding finger.
