Selena Gomez models a flirty dress at THR gala as she promises to ‘open doors’ for other Latinas
Selena Gomez looked elegant on the red carpet as she attended The Hollywood Reporter’s Women in Entertainment Gala Breakfast on Wednesday.
The glittering event – which also featured Jennifer Lawrence, Laura Dern and Pamela Anderson – took place at the famous Beverly Hills Hotel.
The 32-year-old actress wore a flirty off-the-shoulder black and white dress that hugged her curves. It had gold buttons down the front and on the pockets for extra pizzazz.
The Emilia Perez actress wore her dark hair in a playful bob while wearing peach lipstick. Her shoes were Mary Janes with a pointed toe and a generous heel.
During her acceptance speech for her award, Benny Blanco’s friend said it was important for audiences to see diverse actresses as she promised to “open doors” for more Latinas.

The former Disney star wore several gold rings and carried a black quilted Chanel bag.
Sitting next to boyfriend Lawrence at her table, her Only Murders in the Building co-star Molly Shannon, Kerry Washington and former film studio head Sherry Lansing were also seen chatting.
When she was on stage, she asked for further growth of representation in the entertainment industry.
She accepted the Equity in Entertainment Award.
“Equality and representation means ensuring that women, regardless of their background, have equal opportunities to share their stories and showcase their talents,” she began.
“It’s about moving from tokenism to true inclusion, creating spaces where women of all races, sexual orientations and abilities are present. [welcome].’
She recalled when she was told it was amazing that a Latin girl was starring in Wizards of Waverly Place.
“I really didn’t think about the importance of representation or the gravity of what those words meant,” Gomez recalled.
“But I knew I was very grateful, and I wanted to do my best to make that happen, in whatever form that took.”
She said young girls should see themselves as heroes because it inspires them.

“We’re now seeing more authentic, powerful stories about who we are, where we come from and what we can achieve,” she continued. “I’m sure we can all agree that we’re not quite ready for it yet.”
Gomez then spoke to Emilia Pérez, which features several Spanish women: “Our voices are not only heard, but also represented truthfully.”
And it creates opportunities for people to see themselves.
“When we give people the platform to tell their stories, we not only deepen our understanding of each other, but we also open doors to what is possible,” Gomez said.
‘That’s why I’m so committed to my advocacy – from mental health, Lupus awareness or encouraging young people to embrace the power that comes from being vulnerable and sharing your story.’
She concluded, “Together we can break down barriers, amplify women’s voices, and create a future where everyone’s stories are told.”

Shannon introduced Selena, noting that she has not only changed the entertainment landscape, but also used her voice to “change the world for the better.”
“Yes, she is an incredibly talented actress, a multi-platinum, Grammy-nominated artist and a history-making producer,” Shannon said.
‘But more than that: someone who is genuinely concerned about the people and the world around her. She uses her platform to make a real, lasting impact.”
She mentioned Selena’s dedication to mental health care, as well as Lupus research, UNICEF and Make-A-Wish.
“Her advocacy work has transcended the entertainment world as she uses her voice to speak out for those who need it most,” Shannon continued.
“She is a role model not only because of her immense talent and success, but also because of the way she uses her influence to empower others. She challenges the status quo and creates a more inclusive, compassionate world for all.”
This comes after Gomez said she “doesn’t need anyone’s approval.”
The siren stars alongside Zoe Saldana and Karla Sofía Gascon in the musical-comedy ‘Emilia Perez’ and Selena’s performance was widely praised by fans.
When asked if the response was overwhelming, the brunette beauty told ‘CBS Sunday Morning’: ‘Sure. Maybe… It’s not like I really need anyone’s approval. I think I’m just really good with where I am and who I am. And I’m happy. I’m glad I’m finally here.’
Selena has also had huge success with the TV show ‘Only Murders in the Building’, and the actress has enjoyed working with comedy veterans Steve Martin and Martin Short.
Selena – who plays Mabel Mora in the mystery comedy-drama series – said: “These guys, Steve and Martin, have been working longer than I’ve been alive, but they’re the first ones on set. They take the time to ask everyone they meet how their day is. And besides, they think about everything.

“They are wonderful people and they have helped me mature in many ways. These guys have become my friends and allies and people I can ask for advice. I couldn’t be more grateful to be working with them.”
Earlier this year, Selena claimed she hadn’t even scratched the surface of her acting ambitions.
The Hollywood star has enjoyed tremendous success in recent years, but Selena still has so many ambitions to fulfill as an actress.
Selena – who has also had success in the music world – told The Hollywood Reporter: ‘Acting has and always will be my heart.
“There’s so much I want to do that I haven’t even scratched the surface of yet, and it’s exciting for me.”
