Selena Gomez feels like an ‘outsider’ in Taylor Swift’s friendship squad – as insiders reveal why the two best friends haven’t been pictured together in MONTHS

Selena Gomez and Taylor Swift may have been friends for a long time, but the two aren’t spending as much time together as they used to. According to insiders, part of the reason for this is that Gomez doesn’t like being around the singer’s other friends.

Pop superstar Swift, 34, is known for having a girl squad filled with stars like Blake Lively, Lana Del Rey, Sophie Turner, Zoe Kravitz, Ice Spice and Brittany Mahomes. But Gomez, 32, is often noticeably absent when the group is together in public.

Swift has been photographed with celebrity friends several times during her busy Eras world tour, but she has had little interaction with Selena. The last time they were photographed together was in January.

Now sources claim Gomez feels like an “outsider.”

“Selena feels like she’s grown out of Taylor’s circle of friends,” an insider exclusively told DailyMail.com. “She doesn’t want to go out with Blake, or Ice Spice, or Brittany or any of those girls really.”

Gomez had already hinted in February that she was bummed about missing out on group activities, when she posted a sad comment on a photo of Swift’s box during the Super Bowl.

The photo was posted by a Taylor fan page on Instagram and shows Swift with her friends Lively, Keleigh Sperry, Lana Del Rey, Ice Spice and others.

In the comments, Gomez posted a sad, tear-jerking emoji along with a black heart emoji.

Fans were surprised to see the Rare Beauty founder fail to show up at Swift’s Rhode Island party in August.

The source continued, “In many ways, she feels like an outsider right now. She’s not a cheerleader and never wanted to be.”

DailyMail.com previously reported that there has been longstanding animosity between Lively, 37, and Gomez. The two are reportedly not friends, do not socialize and choose to spend time apart with their pop star bestie.

So much so that it seems like the couple have never been photographed together, despite the fact that they have been friends with Swift for years.

When DailyMail.com listed dozens of occasions, including all of Taylor’s birthday parties, her Fourth of July celebrations and her New Year’s celebrations, it was clear that Gomez and Lively had never attended such events together.

Another major factor in the distance between Gomez and Swift in recent months is the fact that they’re both focused on their blossoming romantic relationships.

Gomez has been in a relationship with fellow musician Benny Blanco since the summer of 2023, while Swift began her high-profile romance with Kansas City Chiefs’ Travis Kelce, 34, around the same time.

The insider noted, “They’re both focused on their careers and their relationships. Ultimately, they’re both happy for each other that they’re both in love at the same time.”

Since the couple’s pals likely don’t have much in common, Gomez and Swift don’t make much of an effort to see each other again on a double date.

“They know that double dates are a no-go because their husbands will literally have nothing to talk about,” the insider claimed.

Blanco admitted to SiriusXM that the group hadn’t bothered to meet up, even though he had run into Swift at a restaurant a few days before the interview.

It’s telling to some fans that Gomez and Swift haven’t been seen in public together since they both attended the 2024 Golden Globes in January.

The couple had previously attended a comedy night together in December 2023, with Gomez also attending a group dinner with Swift, Mahomes, Sophie Turner, Gigi Hadid and Cara Delevingne a few weeks earlier.

However, a second source claimed the couple were simply too busy juggling their successful careers and relationships.

‘“Life, in a good way, is the reason Taylor and Selena aren’t together as much anymore,” they said. “Taylor is on the biggest tour ever and she’s trying to balance that with seeing Travis.

‘Selena is busy with Only Murders in the Building and her relationship with Benny. There just aren’t enough hours in the day to keep them busy.’

The source stressed that the couple’s friendship has not suffered from the interruption of their meetings. They explained: ‘It’s one of those friendships where if they were in the same room, no matter how much time has passed, they would pick up right where they left off.

“They will probably run into each other again in the future at award ceremonies or if they happen to be in the same city and maybe have dinner together.”

A third source added: “They talk all the time, but they haven’t been in the same city at the same time in a while.”

Fans are hoping the two will reconnect through work. Gomez fears Swift is too busy to surprise viewers with a guest role on Only Murders In The Building, which was just renewed for a fifth season.

In an interview with E! News, Gomez responded to the possibility of her boyfriend Steve Martin and Martin Short joining the murder mystery comedy.

“She’s a little busy, guys,” she noted, before the Pink Panther actor joked that Swift calls them “every day” asking for a role on the show.

When the reporter suggested that Swift do something simple, like walk past the group on the street, Gomez replied, “I think that’s awesome.”
