Hailey Bieber is getting toast from Selena Gomez fans after the launch of her new cooking show — nearly three years after the singer debuted her own culinary series.
The founder of Rhode, 26, has long been accused of ‘copying’ the Only Murders in the Building star, 30, and the investigation only intensified this week as she first official episode of What’s in My Kitchen? on her YouTube channel.
Critics were quick to draw comparisons to Gomez’s HBO Max cooking series, Selena + Chef, which premiered in August 2020, calling Bieber’s latest project a “rip-off.”
“Hailey really needs to stop copying Selena and she needs to focus on herself,” one person tweeted, while another added, “She wants to be left alone but is constantly copying Selena.”

Critics were quick to draw comparisons to Gomez’s HBO Max cooking series, Selena + Chef, calling Bieber’s latest project a “rip-off.”
However, in a statement shared with the Hollywood reporter, Bieber exclaimed What’s in My Kitchen? a “natural spin-off” of her Who’s in My Bathroom series, with Kendall Jenner, Gwyneth Paltrow and Emily Ratajkowski as guests.
The first of six episodes was released Wednesday and shows her making her “signature chicken wing recipe” in the home she shares with her husband, Justin Bieber.
Other recipes include her home version of her $17 “Strawberry Glaze” Erewhon smoothie and pizza toast. The skincare guru teamed up with OBB Media to create the series, with HexClad sponsoring the project.
One Twitter user mockingly posted that “HBO MAX didn’t want her,” while others claimed Bieber was exuding “single white female” vibes with the show.
“This gurl is obsessed with Selena,” someone else insisted. “Now watch a remake of Selena + Chef Cook Show.”
“She’s then announcing a murder mystery comedy show starring Tim Allen and Jerry Seinfeld,” another joked, referring to Gomez’s Hulu series Only Murders in the Building.

Gomez’s fans have claimed that Bieber is “obsessed” with the singer and “wants to be her.” Even fans of the Rhode founder admitted it was a “bad move” and “rather weird.”
“Actual title – “What’s in my kitchen that I copied from Selena to be relevant,” agreed one critic.
Even Bieber fans were skeptical of the show’s optics, given the constant accusations that she copies everything her husband’s ex-girlfriend does.
“Okay I didn’t even care that she’s fighting with Selena but even I have to admit this is kinda weird,” one person tweeted.
“Okay, I love Hailey, but this is such a bad move. She will often be dragged along,’ someone else commented.
Bieber started her YouTube channel in 2021 and now has more than two million subscribers. She has faced backlash over her cooking segments since she soft launched What’s in My Kitchen in December 2022.
“This is a show inspired by my love of food and trying different recipes,” she explained in the description. “You’ve seen me make pizza toast, creamy Tuscan pasta, smoothies, and more — and I’m excited to now take you all even deeper into my real-life home kitchen to recreate some of these classics and many more fun eating adventures!” ‘

A Twitter user shared a video of Gomez introducing Selena + Chef, followed by footage from Bieber’s first What’s in My Kitchen segment from last year.
‘This is my real home. Everything we do is at home. This is my amazing kitchen, that’s the set,” Gomez told viewers.
“Yeah, we’re actually in my real kitchen, in my real house. This is not a set. This is where I really live,” Bieber explains in her series.
“Naaahhhh Selena needs to file a lawsuit,” the person captioned the compilation clip. ‘Thats crazy.’
However, Bieber isn’t the only celebrity to follow in Gomez’s culinary footsteps after she began filming her show during the pandemic.

In 2021, Brooklyn Beckham and Paris Hilton launched their own respective cooking shows, Cookin’ With Brooklyn and Cooking with Paris.
Fans have pitted Gomez and Bieber against each other for years, and the latest attack on the model comes just weeks after quashing rumors of their so-called feud.
In late March, Gomez took to Instagram Stories to urge people to stop trolling and bullying Bieber, who had been receiving death threats.
“Hailey Bieber contacted me and let me know she has been receiving death threats and such hateful negativity,” she wrote. “This is not what I stand for. No one should experience hatred or bullying. I have always advocated kindness and really want this all to end.”
Bieber thanked Gomez for “speaking out” on her own Instagram Stories, sharing that they had discussed how to “move past this ongoing story once and for all.”
“The past few weeks have been very difficult for everyone involved and millions of people see so much hatred around this, which is extremely damaging. While social media is an incredible way to connect and build community, moments like this only create extreme divisions instead of bringing people together,” she continued.
“Things can be taken out of context or interpreted differently than intended. We all need to think more carefully about what we post and what we say, myself included.
“Ultimately, I believe that love will always be greater than hate and negativity and that there is always an opportunity to meet with more empathy or compassion.”
Bieber and Gomez also started following each other on Instagram to drive their goodwill home.
