Selena Gomez’s fans have poked fun at her very brief 24-hour absence from social media after she vowed to leave the platform “for a while.”
The 31-year-old singer announced on Instagram on Tuesday that she would be taking a break from social media for “a while” to “focus on what really matters.”
However, just 24 hours later, Selena returned to the platform to promote a cooking video with chef Gordon Ramsay, 51, on her Instagram Stories.
Her brief absence followed drama at Sunday’s Golden Globes, when a video appeared to show her whispering to Taylor Swift about couple Timothée Chalamet and Kylie Jenner, although she denied she was talking about them.
Following her return to Instagram, fans were quick to share their hilarious reactions to her mere 24-hour absence, posting a slew of funny memes.

‘I haven’t been social for a while. I’m focusing on what really matters,” she announced alongside a clip of her boyfriend Benny Blanco, 35, sweetly playing with two children.
On Wednesday, however, she brushed aside her recent Golden Globes drama as she returned to the stage to promote a cooking video with Gordon Ramsay.
Sharing a clip from the video, she wrote: “@Gordongram stepped into my kitchen and showed me how to make a killer breakfast burger,” sharing the link to the full YouTube video.
Last year, she announced that she was taking a break from her social media at least twice.
Selena has previously said that she thinks social media breaks are a healthy decision, revealing that at one point she stepped away from social media for more than four years by letting her assistant manage her account.
The controversy surrounding Selena erupted on Sunday night at the Golden Globe Awards, held at the Beverly Hilton, where she whispered with singer friend Taylor.
At one point during the ceremony, cameras focused on Selena as she chatted somberly with Taylor and Keleigh Sperry, 31, the wife of actor Miles Teller, 36.
Speculation quickly arose about what the group was talking about in their hushed conversation, as fans thought she was talking about couple Timothee and Kylie.
Forensic lip reader Jeremy Freeman told DailyMail.com that Selena said: “He didn’t want to take a picture with me, he said no,” to which Keleigh asked: “Timothee?”
Taylor was seen whispering in Selena’s ear, before Selena was thought to have replied: “I tried, I couldn’t, it’ll upset them.”
However, on Monday, Selena denied speaking to Timothee and Kylie, as she said in the comments section of an E! News report about the incident.

Speculation ensued that Selena said Timothée Chalamet would not pose with her so as not to upset his rumored love interest Kylie Jenner (pictured at the Golden Globes).
The post was captioned: ‘Over tea time we would like to know if Selena Gomez was really gossiping about Kylie Jenner and Timothée Chalamet at this year’s #GoldenGlobes.’
To which Selena replied, “Nooooo, I told Taylor about two of my friends hooking up. Not that that’s anyone’s business.’
Timothee also denied on Monday that he had any problems with Selena and said they were on good terms.
The pair previously worked together on the Woody Allen film A Rainy Day In New York, in which they played love interests Chan and Gatsby.
