Selena Gomez deletes behind-the-scenes Instagram post from Only Murders In The Building set after fans claimed it violated SAG-AFTRA strike rules

Selena Gomez made a quick U-turn on Wednesday after she was accused of sharing an Instagram post that violated the rules of SAG-AFTRA’s ongoing actor strike.

The 31-year-old actress and singer initially shared a video of what appeared to be behind-the-scenes footage from the set of her acclaimed Hulu comedy series Only Murders In The Building, which also stars Steve Martin, Martin Short and Meryl Streep. .

In her caption, she wrote that she was “Missing and wanting @onlymurdershulu,” ending the brief by tagging her series’ official account.

However, fans quickly jumped into the comments on her post to inform her that it may have violated SAG-AFTRA’s rules against promoting film and television projects during the strike, and it was removed after 15 hours, according to Variety.

DailyMail.com has reached out to a Gomez representative for comment.

According to the outlet, her post had made 1.1 million before it was taken down.

So far, Gomez has not publicly commented on the post, its removal, or SAG-AFTRA’s ongoing attack against the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP), which represents major studios and streamers.

The union is embroiled in a bitter dispute over contracts with the studios and major streamers, as actors scramble for better wages and higher residual payments.

SAG-AFTRA and the equally notable Writers Guild of America (WGA) are united in efforts to prevent the studios from adopting AI in the future.

The standout actors fear they will be replaced or scanned and mimicked by AI programs, allowing studios to avoid paying for actors, while the writers try to prevent Hollywood studios from using AI to create scripts, for which they then only have one times to pay. writer to review and edit the computer generated screenplays.

The two unions also hope to force streaming services to disclose ratings, which could help verify that studios aren’t committing fraud in handing out small residual checks. The data can also be useful to actors or writers who want to renegotiate a contract based on the performance of their movie or show, data typically kept secret by studios and streamers.

Industry observers believe that streaming services may be attempting to keep data a secret, as this could indicate viewership numbers are much lower than publicly suggested.

Gomez’s since-deleted post raised concerns that she may have circumvented SAG-AFTRA’s rules against promoting or publishing strike work, though she did not speak in the video or urge her followers to watch her show.

However, the tagging of Only Murders In The Building’s official account came across as an attempt to promote the series to some.

In a critical response to the post, the Single Soon singer was described as “tone-deaf,” while others accused her of subversion and union abuse.
