See the social media comments Sam Kerr made just before bombshell criminal trial news broke – as she makes a VERY cheeky response to a racy pic from fiancé Kristie Mewis

  • Kerr faces a four-day trial in Britain in 2025
  • Matildas star has publicly remained silent
  • The 30-year-old was active on social media

Australian football fans woke up to the revelation that Sam Kerr has been charged in Britain over allegations of racially abusing a police officer, but the Matildas skipper is living her best life on social media anyway.

Kerr, 30, pleaded not guilty to a charge in an English court after allegedly using offensive language that caused pain to PC Lovell in Twickenham, south-west London, on January 30.

The four-day criminal trial will take place in February next year, with Kerr insisting her actions were not intended to harm the officer and were not racially aggravated.

Although Kerr has been largely silent since injuring her ACL in January, speaking only in court to confirm her identity and plead not guilty, she and fiancé Kristie Mewis have been very active on Instagram.

Last week, Kerr and Mewis were photographed in a group photo at a celebration for Matildas teammate Mackenzie Arnold’s 30th birthday.

“Birthday week spent in four different countries, but ended with my favorite people all in one place,” Arnold posted.

“Thank you to my family and friends for making it so special and to @kirstysmith.11 for making me live more than 30 years old than I ever imagined.”

Kerr responded to the post with a line from Natasha Bedingfield’s popular song Unscribed.

“Feel the rain on your skin,” Kerr posted early Tuesday morning, Australian time, with a love-eyed emoji.

A large number of followers followed her lead and replied with more lines from the hit.

Then, on the day Kerr appeared in court via video link, Mewis posted a very racy photo of himself wearing a sheer black suit with the caption ‘sheer thing’.

Kerr responded to the image with a GIF of herself in full Matildas gear, sticking out her tongue and giving a thumbs up.

Kerr’s response attracted more than 30 responses.

“What’s it like to give yourself a poison?” someone asked.

“You’re a menace,” another laughed.

Another wrote: ‘Samantha! To behave!’

Matildas teammate Alanna Kennedy also replied to Mewis’ post with the message ‘Good luck xoxo’.

Kerr responded with three skull emojis, social media slang that means you laughed so hard you died.

It is not known what the comments were in relation to and there is no suggestion they are related to Kerr’s court appearance or the ongoing trial.

The couple were also active this weekend, posting on Instagram Stories in support of Kerr’s injury replacement at Chelsea, Colombia forward Mayra Ramirez.

Both Kerr and Mewis posted individually to cheer on Ramirez when she came on to the pitch and as she scored a goal on her debut to seal the 1-0 win against Crystal Palace.

Later, the couple’s dual account shared the image in honor of Ramirez’s goal, this time with a sad face emoji and a blue heart.

Chelsea and the Women’s Super League had made no statements about Kerr at the time of publication, although Chelsea previously condemned racism after Kerr’s teammate Lauren James was racially abused in December.

On Tuesday afternoon, football boss James Johnson and Matildas coach Tony Gustavsson both revealed that Kerr had kept her legal scandal secret from them, despite being charged on January 21.
