See the disgraceful moment bloody brawl breaks out at Bulldogs vs Manly NRL final as man is hospitalised after fight that saw fans locked away for their own safety
A violent brawl that broke out after Sunday’s thrilling final between Manly and the Bulldogs was caught on camera, leaving one man hospitalised and police having to escort fans to safety.
The alleged fight broke out after Canterbury’s surprise defeat, with several men filmed fighting near a lift at Accor Stadium in Homebush, in Sydney’s west.
Footage of the conflict shows a man being hit on the head, after which a woman tries to defuse the situation by standing between the men.
According to a police spokesperson, one of the men was seen with blood streaming from his mouth and another had blood on his shirt. News Corp.
It took 12 police officers and security guards to end the conflict. For their own safety, officers locked the fans behind glass doors, as they were not allowed to leave the venue until the confrontation was over.
“At approximately 6pm on Sunday 15 September, Accor Stadium Police were called to reports of a fight in the lift lobby of Level 3, West, Private Suites,” New South Wales Police said in a statement on Monday.
Police arrived on scene to find a 29-year-old man from Auburn with facial injuries, while a second man, a 30-year-old man from Greenacre, had suffered serious facial injuries.
“The first man was taken to Concord Hospital for further treatment, while the second man refused treatment.”

One man (third from right) appeared to have been punched in the face during the incident, leaving one man with what police described as “extensive facial injuries.”
Detectives are investigating and have asked witnesses to contact them if they have any information.
The events unfolded after Manly secured a dramatic 24-22 victory over their stronger opponents in the final minute.
Canterbury controlled large parts of the match at the Accor Stadium and made life difficult for Tom Trbojevic as he returned from a much-publicised shoulder injury.
But when the game needed a hero, Trbojevic set in motion the play that won Manly the game, with the Sea Eagles moving down the left and sending Tolu Koula over the centre’s 45m sprint.
Reuben Garrick put Manly ahead with his subsequent conversion and Bulldogs’ five-eighth Matt Burton was unable to relinquish the lead despite two late attempts at a two-point field goal.
Manly will play the Sydney Roosters in the semi-finals at Allianz Stadium next Saturday. Trbojevic will also feature, despite landing on his shoulder in the first half on Sunday.
“He’s fine. He’ll do well to get back out there,” Manly coach Anthony Seibold said after the win.
The alleged brawl broke out after Manly star Tom Trbojevic (pictured with the ball) braved a painful shoulder injury to play a starring role in his team’s comeback victory.
‘It was a real football final, the scores were exciting and the Bulldogs were probably on top for most of the game.
“We just kept going and the longer the game went on, the more the scoreboard slipped away from us. I was really proud of the boys.”
Viliame Kikau and Stephen Crichton made it 16-12 at half time, which did the Bulldogs no justice. They rediscovered their physical strength and made it difficult for Trbojevic.
After a pass from Trbojevic, Kikau passed the ball to Jacob Kiraz, who scored, before breaking through the Manly fullback for his own four-pointer.
Trbojevic was again caught out of position for the Bulldogs’ third goal and lost the game when Crichton connected with Burton’s kick.
But after the break, Trbojevic went in search of the ball.
“He got another shot during half-time, but that was always planned,” said Seibold.
‘He did land on it (his shoulder) in the first half… You probably saw him get more involved in the second half.’
His team trailed by four points in the final 10 minutes, Trbojevic throwing the offload that sparked Manly’s attack down the left, and a crucial try for Koula, who surprised the Bulldogs with a snooze on the final play.
