Suntralis Foods supermarket: Why Aussies are desperately trying to keep this ‘best kept secret’ to themselves

Aussies have saved hundreds of dollars at an undisclosed specialty food store with a wide range of discounted bulk and branded items in South Australia.

Suntralis Foods, a family-owned business that has been operating in Lonsdale for 33 years, is now helping Australians overcome the rising cost of groceries due to rampant inflation.

The store stocks more than 500 ranges, including snacks, flours, nuts, seeds, grains, beans, lentils, cereals, natural soaps and incense, lollipops, cake mixes, gluten-free products, dried fruit, chocolate and herbs and spices.

Many of their products are Australian owned and made. Hundreds of these are also available in bulk.

A shopper spilled the ‘well-kept secret’ on Facebook this week to help Aussies with their supermarket savings. She raved about the “competitive” prices, cheap cooking ingredients and endless rows of affordable spices.

Suntralis has a wide variety of dried herbs and spices in stock in 250 gram bags. The ground coriander spice costs $2 per bag. By comparison, Coles sells a much smaller 25g bag for $1.95.

There are also large bars of plant-based soaps in various scents available for $4.50 and a wide range of fresh flours and baked goods.

The macadamia nuts, dried fruits, chocolates and lollipops are customer favorites.

‘Some are very well-known suppliers/manufacturers who supply the supermarket chains independently, so they cannot be advertised in store or online,’ said one regular customer.

She said some of these well-known products are on sale at Suntralis at discounts of up to 50 percent.

Customers also rave about the ‘juiciest’ raisins they’ve ever had and their tart peach hearts are constantly selling out.

Unlike many budget stores that offer deals on highly processed, packaged foods or foods that are close to their expiration date, Suntralis is a haven for those who cook a lot and care about the healthiness, quality and freshness of their ingredients.

The Australian Bureau of Statistics found that more Aussies are opting for quick and convenient food over healthier options due to rising costs, making Suntralis Foods a rare shopping experience in the current financial climate.

A few reviewers complained that it was difficult to visit Suntralis as often as they would like because it is only open for business when most are at work.

One user commented that for a similar shopping experience to Suntralis, those near Morayfield in QLD should try Simply Good, which is also a well-priced bulk food store.

Suntalis Foods originally started with just one product: freshly purchased, high-quality almonds, which were then flavored and roasted. Since then, the range has continued to expand.

It is located at 7/61 O’Sullivan Beach Rd, Lonsdale.

Suntralis Foods is open Monday to Saturday from 9am to 5pm and closed all day on Sunday.
