Sebastian Stan transforms into young Donald Trump in new clip from controversial biopic The Apprentice
Sebastian Stan played Donald Trump in a new clip from the controversial biopic The Apprentice, which was released on Tuesday.
The 42-year-old Stan, a Golden Globe nominee, transformed into a younger version of the businessman and former president for a scene with Jeremy Strong as Trump’s disgraced — and ultimately fired — attorney Roy Cohn.
In 1986 he was disbarred for defrauding a dying client.
The scene shows the pair in a car as a reporter talks to Trump about a possible interview.
Cohn says: ‘Listen, Judy, I had about 100 reporters ask me for this interview, and I gave you the exclusive.’

He hands the phone to Trump, at which point the reporter asks him what he’s going to do “now that the trial is over.”
A posing Trump responds: ‘I plan to buy The Commodore, I want to make it the best and most beautiful building in the city, maybe even the country.
“In the world, Judy, in the world. It’s going to be the most beautiful building in the world, it’s going to be a spectacular hotel, absolutely spectacular, first class.”
“I have flair and I’m smart. I think that’s what’s going to make me successful. But I also want to stay humble.”
Cohn takes the phone from Trump and says to Judy, “Let’s do the rest in person and bring a photographer, okay?”
Cohn tells Trump, “I mean, listen, you’re alive. You’ve got a long way to go, but, uh, you’re learning.”
The Apprentice premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in May.
The film follows Trump in the 1970s and 1980s as he attempts to build a real estate empire using assets owned by his father, Fred Trump.

The Apprentice is directed by Iranian filmmaker Ali Abbasi, who also directed the critically acclaimed Persian-language crime thriller Holy Spider (2022).
Oscar-nominated actress Maria Bakalova will play Trump’s late ex-wife Ivana Trump.
Variety initially reported that the film would be titled The Student. A logline for the upcoming film described it as “an exploration of power and ambition in a world of corruption and deceit.”
“It’s a mentor-protégé story that charts the origins of an American dynasty. It’s filled with larger-than-life characters and reveals the moral and human cost of a culture defined by winners and losers.”
The screenplay for the film was written by author Gabriel Sherman, who wrote the 2014 book The Loudest Voice in the Room: How the Brilliant, Bombastic Roger Ailes Built Fox News – and Divided a Country.
The book was later adapted into the 2019 Showtime miniseries The Loudest Voice.

Last year, Stan starred in several films, including Dumb Money, Sharper and Ghosted.
Stan, who also appeared in multiple MCU films as Bucky “Winter Soldier” Barnes, is the latest in a line of actors to play Trump.
Only a few of these have been dramatic productions, the most recent being Irish actor Brendan Gleeson in the 2020 Showtime miniseries The Comey Rule.
Trump has been ridiculed on NBC’s Saturday Night Live for decades, with actors including Alec Baldwin, Darrell Hammond, Jason Sudeikis, Taran Killam and the late Phil Hartman playing the role at various times.
