Season 2 of Paramount Plus’ Halo series drops next week – here’s what the latest trailer tells us

We got really excited about the first, action-packed trailer for the upcoming second season of Halo – and now there’s a new trailer adding to the excitement ahead of the new series’ premiere next week on February 8.

Compared to the first trailer we saw early this year and footage from a teaser trailer launched in December, the new trailer is much shorter – it’s only a minute long, compared to the trailer’s two and a half minutes it fell earlier this month.

It’s a little less self-consciously epic, but there’s new footage of some spectacular-looking dogfights and plasma shields and swords as The Covenant comes for the people of Reach. And it ends with the choral music from the original game, which always gives goosebumps.

Halo Season 2: What we know so far

Pablo Schreiber is back as Master Chief, John-117, and we expect most of the original cast to rejoin him as the Chief leads his team of Spartan soldiers into battle against the Covenant. According to Paramount: “In the aftermath of a shocking event on a deserted planet, John can’t shake the feeling that his war is about to change and he risks everything to prove what no one else will believe – that it’s Covenant prepares to attack humanity’s greatest. stronghold.” As you can see in the trailers, the Covenant quickly proves him right – and that means finding the key to saving or destroying humanity: the Halo.

That’s as far as the released plot goes, but it sounds like we’re going to see a race between the Covenant and Master Chief to reach and control the Halo ringworld in all its destructive glory. And if the season follows the games, it could mean the arrival of the enemies I hate most in all video games ever made: The Flood. If you’re not a Halo player, think about zombies – lots and lots of zombies – and a possible alliance between the humans and the Covenant to fight a common enemy.

Speak with Collidersaid director Otto Bathurst that for season two we have “two main characters from The Covenant, who you’re really going to meet and understand, and spend time with and understand what their motives are and what they do.” will… you’ll feel much more connected to the Covenant, and some of the characters we’re featuring are fan favorites. So that’s going to go well.’

Season two of Halo will stream on Paramount Plus on February 8, 2024.
