Tragic end to desperate search for missing teenage girl on the Gold Coast

A body has been recovered during an extensive search and rescue mission for a missing 17-year-old girl on Queensland’s Gold Coast.

The teenage girl, who has a medical condition, was last seen on Bayberry Lane in Robina about 8.30am on Tuesday.

Her concerned family reported her missing to police, who searched an area in Carrara about ten minutes from where she was last seen.

“A land search and rescue operation is underway in the Carrara area with assistance from SES crews and members of the public,” police said on Wednesday morning.

“A command post has been set up at the AFL ground along Nielsens Road, Carrara.

“The public wishing to assist with searches are asked to meet there.”

The teen was previously described as white, approximately 178cm tall, with blond hair and green eyes.

Both her family and police said they were concerned for her well-being due to a medical condition.
