Search for missing British uncle, 48, ends in tragedy: body found on Greek beach, two days after he disappeared after swimming with his niece
The body of a 48-year-old British tourist who went missing on the Greek island of Rhodes has been found on a beach.
The man was last seen two days ago after going swimming with his niece at Theologos beach in the north of the island, local media reported.
However, the search ended in tragedy this morning after his body was found on Paradisos beach by a passer-by.
According to local media, his niece had left the beach and called the police. He had not been heard from for hours and had disappeared from the beach.
Police officers worked with the Coast Guard and boat owners in the area to investigate the disappearance.

A number of disappearances have occurred in Greece this summer, including that of Mail columnist Dr Michael Mosley.
Investigating authorities found the body of Dr Mosley, one of Britain’s most famous doctors who popularised the 5:2 diet, in June after a days-long search in the scorching heat on the Greek holiday island of Symi.
The body was found in a rocky area next to Agia Marina after an extensive search led by rescuers, about a 30-minute walk from the village of Pedi where the 67-year-old Mail columnist was last seen.
Days after Dr Mosley’s body was found, Greek authorities desperately tried to search for three missing tourists during an extreme heat wave that has left at least five people dead.
Former Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputy Albert Calibet, 59, was last seen hiking alone in scorching conditions on Amorgos. Meanwhile, two Frenchmen – aged 73 and 64 – are missing on the remote island of Sikinos.
