Sean Penn came to the aid of a reporter who needed help ahead of the Golden Globes.

Variety reporter Marc Malkin suffered car trouble in Palm Springs on Friday before he was expected to cover the Golden Globes pre-party festivities in Los Angeles that same day. Page six.

But Malkin was able to get back on the road with the help of Penn and his publicist Mara Buxbaum.

Page Six reports that both Penn and Mara manually pushed the reporter's electric car – which had lost power – to a charger.

Malkin was forced to have his car towed to a charging station after the power went out, where he encountered both Penn and Mara.

The duo were both there powering their own vehicles.

β€œMarc looked to one side, and Sean Penn was charging his car β€” and he looked to the other side and saw Mara Buxbaum (Penn's longtime publicist) charging her car,” the insider said.

Malkin's vehicle was unable to charge and he eventually decided to move his vehicle to a different type of charger by putting it in neutral.

Penn's publicist approached Malkin and asked if he needed help pushing the vehicle. “She said, 'Do you need someone to push your car?'” the insider said.

That's when Malkin peered in his rearview mirror and saw that “Penn was in the back there pushing his car” with his publicist.

The article stated that Malkin was “stunned” when he watched the duo move his car to a working charger.

β€œIt was the funniest thing ever,” the insider said. “Sean was a real hero.”

Thanks to Sean, Malkin made his assignment later that day at the Golden Globes pre-party. Malkin will also host the Golden Globes digital pre-show on Sunday.

Penn and Malkin both attended Variety's Creative Impact Awards in Palm Springs on Friday. The Mystic River actor introduced honoree Penelope Cruz at the event, while Malkin had the red carpet covered.

Cruz was the recipient of the Creative Impact in Acting Award during the festivities.

While describing her acting, Sean said per Variety'If she wants us to understand, we will. If she wants us to feel, we feel, because she lets us.”

The Ferrari actress also shared a hug with Penn as he presented the award to her during brunch.

While on stage, the Vanilla Sky actress said, β€œI feel very lucky to be able to make a living from acting. This has been my passion since I was a little girl.”

'When I receive an award for what I love to do, it feels very confusing and shocking. When I was a little girl, I prayed every night, “Please God, don't lock me in an office.”

β€œI thought, if I can't let go of everything that's happening here, I know I'd go crazy,” Cruz told the other attendees.
