Sean Dyche ‘could be SACKED if American businessman John Textor completes Everton take over… with a potential successor already identified’ following poor start to the season

Potential buyer for Everton John Textor is reportedly set to land top coach Abel Ferreira if his takeover bid is successful – according to reports The sun.

Textor, an American businessman, is said to admire the Portuguese coach, who led Palmeiras to the Brazilian league title last season.

Ferreira is said to have caught Textor’s attention after the 58-year-old witnessed his coaching methods first-hand when he owned Botafogo in Rio, part of his Eagle Football Holdings group.

Ferreira’s contract runs until the end of next year and would require compensation. This does not stop Textor from pursuing him, however – according to The sun.

While Textor is working to finalise the deal with Everton, he is also in the process of selling his shares in Crystal Palace. American investors Josh Harris and David Blitzer have also shown interest in taking them over.

His determination to acquire Everton would likely increase the pressure on current manager Sean Dyche, who, despite keeping the club afloat in difficult circumstances last season, has made a poor start to this campaign.

According to The Sun, Textor also has his eye on Paulo Fonseca, another highly regarded Portuguese coach.

However, it could be difficult to bring in the 51-year-old AC Milan manager.

Textor has shown himself to have a keen eye for management talent and was instrumental in the appointment of Oliver Glasner at Crystal Palace.

Glasner, who succeeded Roy Hodgson in February, helped the team to seven wins in 13 games, which resulted in a top-half finish in the Premier League.

However, Everton endured a difficult start to the 2024-25 season, conceding 10 goals in three consecutive defeats.

Heavy defeats to Brighton and Tottenham were followed by a dramatic defeat to Bournemouth, where Everton squandered a 2-0 lead in the dying minutes to lose 3-2.

The poor form has left Everton bottom of the table. Dyche’s past performances have earned him goodwill, but time is running out to turn the tide.

Dyche’s only win so far this season came in the Carabao Cup against League Two club Doncaster, which secured a third-round tie against Southampton later this month.

With a tough run of games coming up, including a trip to Aston Villa where they lost 4-0 last season, Dyche faces a crucial period that could determine his future at Goodison Park.
