On Thursday afternoon, hours before the NFL Draft, Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll entertained fans with some rather peculiar clues about who the team would take.
Seattle has both the No. 5 overall and No. 20 overall picks and it was not specified which pick the hints pertained to.
Carroll started his hint by reposting the trailer for the show “Love is Blind.” Contestants on the show go on dates behind a wall so they don’t see each other before they get engaged.
Fans speculated that it could mean the Seahawks were either targeting a player they hadn’t met or were acting because the show had been delayed for two weeks.
The second clue was a link to Nirvana’s Seattle Kraken target song “Lithium.” Fans seemed clueless as to what the hint might be, but some suggested it could mean that one of the picks would be from a nearby school in the Pacific Northwest.

Weathers had a short-lived stint as an NFL linebacker that led fans to connect the dots so the position could be attacked early.
The fourth and clue was video of Las Vegas Aces star Kesley Plum throwing a t-shirt into the crowd during a San Antonio Spurs game, showing enough arm strength for the shirt to extend much further than expected.
This may have been a hint that they are planning to draft a QB.
The fifth clue was a clip of actress Jennifer Coolidge from the show “White Lotus.” In the clip, Coolidge says “show him the core of the onion.”

Many fans suspected that the hints indicated that the plan was to take Jordan Carter in early on
Carroll’s sixth and final clue was a video of the Kraken’s mascot, but when the video zoomed out, it was clear that the camera holder was in the hockey rink’s penalty area.
Large amounts of fan speculation on social media led to the belief that the hints tied in with Georgia defensive end Jalen Carter.
Not only do Carter and Coolidge have the same initials of JC, Carter also wore the same number 88 as Plum’s husband Darren Waller, and the defense line is considered the “core” of the defense.
However, the social media sleuths seemed to have been proved wrong when Seattle fielded cornerback Devon Witherspoon with his No. 5 overall pick.
