Nearly five years after its release, Sea of thieves updates come thick and fast. With season 9 coming up in March, it looks like Rare’s multiplayer pirate adventure game is poised to fire another broadside full of goodies our way.
Sea of thieves lets you command and man your own pirate ship in thrilling PvP or PvE battles on the open seas of the open world. It’s a charming romp through many of the era’s best sailing tropes, giving you reason to search for buried treasure, join interesting factions, and even fight a kraken.
In addition to being playable on Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S and PC, Sea of thieves is also playable on Xbox Game Pass, and it’s worth taking advantage of if you subscribe to the service. Sea of Thieves: release date and platforms
Sea of thieves is free for all subscribed players Xbox game pass or Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. It can be bought differently Xbox Series X, Xbox Series SXbox One, Windows 10 and Steam.
The last Sea of thieves update is season eight. The new season, released on November 22, 2022, brings a slew of new features, including on-demand PvP battles, new cosmetics, and brand new hideouts to loot and explore.

Sea of thieves Season 9 is upon us. It looks like there are plenty of updates to loot, as well as some welcome world event balance improvements. They also increased the chances of encountering a megaladon or the dreaded kraken.
All in all, Season 9 looks to be packed with quality of life improvements and tweaks to the game, all of which will add up to Sea of Thieves even better.

Sea of Thieves: event details
Season 8 of Sea of Thieves is jam-packed with all sorts of events, and we expect Season 9 to be no different.
Unfortunately, the most recent event, the Sea of thieves Community Day is over and done with. On February 11, 2023, players benefited from a massive in-game gold, reputation, and fame multiplier that correlated with the number of community tweets on Twitter.
With season 9 imminent, more events are almost certainly on the horizon. In the meantime, we advise all captains to keep their eyes firmly on the match official events hub (opens in new tab).
Sea of Thieves: Patch Notes
Season 8 is now long in the tooth with season 9 on the horizon. Rare is gearing up for the next big update. However, Sea of thieves will receive regular updates in the meantime.
Patch 2.7.3 arrived on February 16, buying matchmaking improvements and a Halo-inspired set of cosmetics for more fashion-conscious pirates. The patch also came with a free emote and balances for Ghost Ship battles. The patch download sizes for each platform are listed below:

Sea of Thieves: Battle Pass
Sea of thieves Season Eight Plunder Pass launched alongside the main season on November 22, 2022. Although you can purchase it separately from the Xbox store (opens in new tab), there is a small discount for Xbox Game Pass subscribers. Here’s the official description as provided by Rare:
