Meanwhile, Neve Campbell, who became a bold name through the slasher series, refused to be in Scream VI for money.

Neve revealed in an interview with Deadline last year that he turned down an offer to return to Scream VI because he felt his salary was insufficient.

“As a woman, I’ve had to work very hard in my career to establish my value, especially when it comes to Scream,” she said.

“I felt that the offer that was presented to me was not equivalent to the value that I brought to the franchise,” explained the 49-year-old actress.

Until now it had been inextricably associated with the franchise, which has grossed more than $744 million cumulatively worldwide.

Consequently, Courteney had to make a Scream movie without Neve for the first time, and in her new interview with Variety she said of the experience: “I’ve missed working with her, but I’m going to stand by whatever she thinks is right.”

Scream VI hits theaters on March 10.
