Scream VI teaser sets spines tingling as Ghostface stalks prequel survivors through subway

A chilling new teaser has been released for Scream VI, the first movie in the franchise without its star Neve Campbell.

The action has moved from the fictional California town of Woodsboro to New York City, opening up survivors to new forms of terror.

Mindy (Jasmin Savoy Brown), Sam (Melissa Barrera), Tara (Jenna Ortega) and Chad (Mason Gooding), all survivors from the previous film Scream, are chased on the subway by the terrifying serial killer Ghostface.

The foursome are shown sitting on the train looking nervously at the people around them, some of whom are wearing Halloween costumes.

Ghostface appears to be a popular costume choice, as several revelers are seen dressed in the character’s iconic cowl and mask.

One of them, however, begins to show distinctive signs of being someone other than a costumed partier for a night on the town.

As the lights flicker in the subway, the foursome notice a Ghostface closing in on them.

Mindy avoids meeting his eyes, but the fear on her face is unmistakable, especially when an electrical problem plunges the train into darkness.

In an instant, the lights come back on, but Mindy’s troubles have only just begun, as Ghostface’s hand clamps over her mouth, muffling her cry for help.

As the teaser action unfolds, the chilling tagline for the new film is revealed during intertitles: “In a city of millions, no one hears you scream.”

Friends legend Courteney Cox, a longtime mainstay of the Scream franchise, also returns as reporter Gale Weathers.

However, Neve revealed in an interview with Term this year that he had turned down an offer to return to Scream VI because he felt the money was insufficient.

“As a woman, I’ve had to work very hard in my career to establish my value, especially when it comes to Scream,” she said.

“I felt that the offer that was presented to me was not equivalent to the value that I brought to the franchise,” explained the 49-year-old actress.
