The hat Scottie Scheffler wore on the day of his infamous arrest sold for thousands of dollars at auction this past weekend.
On May 17, Scheffler was pulled over on his way to Valhalla to tee off at the PGA Championship. Fans woke up in the morning to pictures of him in handcuffs and a photo of him.
After the unexpected turn of events, Scheffler was received with great enthusiasm and ended the day at the top of the rankings.
Months later, the simple white Nike golf cap sold at an auction for the charity Kids Cancer Alliance for a staggering $2,375.
While a four-figure sum is a hefty sum to pay for a cap, the story behind the artwork is of great value. It stands on Scheffler’s head after a remarkable feat that will go down in history.

Scheffler stepped out and made his 10:08am tee time, birdied the first hole and shot a 5-under 66 at the Championship.
It was revealed that at 5:09 a.m., a fatal pedestrian accident occurred outside the club. Due to the heavy traffic caused by the accident, Scheffler got caught up in a misunderstanding, which resulted in him dragging an officer with his vehicle.
After his release, Scheffler described the incident on his Instagram story.
“This morning I acted as the police officers instructed me,” he wrote. “It was a very chaotic situation, understandably so given the tragic accident that had occurred earlier, and there was a great deal of misunderstanding as to what I thought I was being asked to do.

“I never intended to ignore any of the instructions. I hope to put this aside and focus on golf today.”
Scheffler was charged with second-degree assault on a police officer, criminal damage, reckless driving and disregarding signals from an officer directing traffic.
He finished the tournament in a four-way tie in eighth place. He has since won the Memorial Tournament and Traveler’s Championship, with six wins in 2024 with one tournament remaining.
