Scottie Scheffler’s caddie incredible earnings… after the world No 1 scoops record $3.5 million prize by winning  second Green Jacket at the Masters

Scottie Scheffler’s victory at the Masters has led to another major windfall for his caddy Ted Scott as the American continued his stunning season.

Scheffler scooped a record prize of $3.5 million (£2.8 million) by winning a second Green Jacket at the Masters on Sunday.

The world No. 1 finished at 11 under par for the tournament at Augusta National for a second win in three years.

Scott has been on Scheffler’s agenda since 2022, and the American has stormed to several notable tournament victories since then.

According to ForbesScheffler has already collected $15 million (£12 million) in prize money from nine tournaments this season.

The 50-year-old is expected to have received a 10 per cent discount on the record price of £2.8 million

The 27-year-old has won both the Arnold Palmer Invitational and the Players Championship, as well as his Masters victory.

Scott is also expected to have made incredible earnings from this, with players customarily paying their caddies 10 percent of their prize money.

If Scheffler followed the practice, Scott would have earned $1.45 million (£1.2 million) this year.

Scott’s earnings would put the caddy among the top 50 golfers on the PGA Tour for prize money this season.

The caddy will have earned significant sums in recent seasons with Scheffler, who has topped the PGA Tour prize money list for the past two years.

He earned a record $14 million (£11.2 million) in the 2021-2022 season – a figure he has already surpassed this year – before earning $21 million (£16.8 million) during the 2022-2023 tour .

With Scheffler having collected $50 million (£40 million) over the past few seasons, Scott alone would have taken home an estimated $5 million (£4 million) in prize money.

Scott is a 25-year veteran of the PGA Tour and previously caddyed for former Masters champion Bubba Watson.

He reportedly took some convincing initially before agreeing to caddy for Scheffler.

“Teddy and Scottie talked for a while before they started working for him,” fellow caddy and friend Paul Tesori said via Golf overview.

“Scottie is young and has had a habit of getting a little angry on the golf course, and maybe even a little angry with his caddy.

“Ted is a veteran, almost 50 years old, and has been here long enough that he could say, ‘I want to come work for you, but you have to promise me that you’re going to work in these areas. .” And Scottie not only said yes, he absolutely did it.”

Scott now has four victories as a caddy at the Masters, following Watson’s victories in 2012 and 2014.

He is one behind the record of Willie Stokes and Willie Peterson, while tied with Nathaniel Avery and Steve Williams.
