Scottie Scheffler’s caddy could have already brought in an eye-watering sum for the PGA Tour season – and could be ready for another windfall.

Ted Scott has been on the bag for Scheffler for nearly two years, including a phenomenal season for the American this year.

The number 1 in the world has two victories to his name this year, namely at the Waste Management Phoenix Open and the Players Championship.

Those two wins alone netted him a staggering amount of money, with both now part of the PGA Tour’s designated events. The elevated Phoenix Open had a cash prize of $20 million, with players bidding a whopping $25 million, meaning Scheffler took home $3.6 million and $4.5 million, respectively.

In addition to his wins, Scheffler has also racked up 16 top-10 finishes, including three of the four major championships.

His stellar success has not only seen him knock back Rory McIlroy and Masters champion Jon Rahm for world number one, but has also netted him an incredible $21 million.

But as any golfer knows, the credit doesn’t just go to the player. Each pro is assisted by a caddy and Scheffler and Scott have formed a formidable partnership, with the latter seemingly worth every penny.

It is customary for players to pay their caddies 10 percent of all their earnings, which means that, if Scheffler is following tradition, Scott has also benefited from his success, earning $2.1 million for his role on the sack.

But it may not close there yet with the TOUR championship to come.

Scheffler heads to East Lake this week atop the FedEx Cup standings, meaning he will start with a two-shot lead over Viktor Hovland, who beat the American to win the BMW championship this weekend.

Scheffler goes into the staggered event with a lead and a chance to add another $18 million to his season earnings.

He was heartbroken when he was hunted down by Rory McIlroy, who started as much as six strokes behind Scheffler – a feat he hopes Hovland cannot repeat.

A 24-year veteran of the PGA Tour, Scott was previously a caddy for former Masters champion Bubba Watson.

Reportedly, he initially needed some convincing before agreeing to caddy for Scheffler.

“Teddy and Scottie talked for quite a while before they started working for him,” fellow caddy and friend Paul Tesori said via Golf overview.

“Scottie is young and has had a habit of getting a little angry on the golf course, and maybe even a little angry with his caddy.

“Ted is a veteran, almost 50 years old and has been here long enough that he could say, ‘I want to come and work for you, but you have to promise me that you will work in these areas. And Scottie not only said yes, he absolutely did.”

And Scott certainly won’t regret that decision now.
