Even the world’s top-ranked golfer is prone to blunders from time to time, as Scottie Scheffler showed on Travelers Championship Friday.
While teeing off the par-4 fourth hole at TPC River Highlands in Cromwell, Connecticut, Scheffler let go of his club.
That turned out to be unfortunate for him, as the bat hit his arm, ricocheted back and hit him in the face.
It was all captured in beautiful slow-mo – where we see Scheffler’s nose take the brunt of the blow.
Even the broadcasters reacted vociferously when they saw the great champion beaten by his own club.

It was a tough second day for Scheffler in Nutmeg State, with the 2022 Masters champion shooting an even-par 70 for his round on Friday.
While even par can be a great score on some of the PGA’s toughest courses, TPC River Highlands is known for low scoring chances and as a result, Scheffler was left in the dust.
Even taking into account the seven-under-par 63 round he shot yesterday, -7 is only good enough for a tie for 22nd place among the Travelers.

Scheffler will have a long climb ahead as he is eight shots behind leaders Denny McCarthy and Keegan Bradley – who both top the standings at 15 under par.
The blow may have been softened a bit after meeting another American sports star.
USA men’s team captain Tyler Adams posed for photos with world No. 1 and world No. 14 Tony Finau during the Cromwell, Connecticut tournament, which began Thursday.
The Leeds United midfielder also posed for a selfie with Scheffler’s caddy, Ted Scott, who said he wanted a picture for his football-loving son.
