After starting his Friday with off-course issues, Scottie Scheffler had a tough start to his Saturday on course – after the world No. 1 scored poorly on the first four holes.
Scheffler was running on adrenaline Friday morning after his shocking arrest, but was able to play well enough to finish the day at nine under after two rounds.
However, his start to Saturday’s third round was nothing like the day before – with Scheffler going double bogey-bogey-bogey on holes 2-4 with some truly terrible golf.
His tee shot on the second hole found a fairway bunker and his rescue shot from the sand was found to be very deep rough. Shot number three got stuck in the thick grass, forcing him to take a fourth shot long before he needed two putts to hole out for a double.
After carding that six on the par-four second, he hoped to recover on the third hole. Unfortunately, his six-foot putt for par went wide and he tapped in for a bogey.

On the 2nd hole, Scheffler’s third shot from deep rough was blocked and he made a double bogey
Hole 3 saw Scheffler’s putt for par lip out and he dropped another stroke
That led to his tee shot on the fourth hole, which sailed left and rolled through the gallery
It came to a stop in a penalty area, forcing Scheffler to take a drop and a penalty
His next shot failed because he caught too much grass in his swing and looked for another bogey
That led to his tee shot on hole No. 4 – which went all the way to the left, bounced right in front of the gallery and rolled through the fans’ legs, along the cart path and under a fence.
The ball came to rest in the penalty area and Scheffler was forced to take a drop just over 20 yards from the hole of the green.
All it took was a simple chip, but Scheffler doused his shot and it fell just short of the short grass. His fourth shot went past the hole and he eventually rolled home a bogey putt from ten feet away.
It was a terrible start for Scheffler, but he began his recovery efforts almost immediately on the next hole with a birdie on the par-four 5th hole.
It’s been a wild 48 hours for the Masters champion after he was arrested and charged with second-degree assault on a police officer and three other non-felony charges.
Scheffler’s attorney says the golfer plans to plead not guilty if charges are not dropped, saying his client “did nothing wrong.”
On Saturday, it was revealed by the mayor of Louisville that the officer who was allegedly dragged by Scheffler’s vehicle did not turn on his bodycam to capture the incident.
