Scott Cam breaks his silence out over The Block ‘villains’ Jesse and Paige’s sensational exit from the reality show and reveals the reason they left
The Block host Scott Cam has revealed that controversial contestants Jesse Maguire and Paige Beechey’s shock decision to leave the reality show was entirely their own making.
The controversial couple, who were dubbed the “villains” of this season, resigned Monday night after producers had to intervene during an explosive disagreement between the two on Monday’s episode.
The producers advised the couple to seek professional help, which ultimately resulted in them leaving the show.
In a video posted on 9Now On Tuesday, Scott, 61, said producers had a “duty of care” to the couple.
“We’ve always said we’re not doing anything major here, we’re just renovating,” Scott said in the video.
‘Health, wellbeing, happiness, are always at the forefront of The Block. We always make sure that the wellbeing of the participants is number one.’
Scott added that Jesse and Paige, after talking to professionals, decided to leave the popular reality show.
“We received professional help and had extensive discussions,” he said.

The engaged couple were caught arguing off-camera on Monday’s episode, but their microphones were still on.

She added angrily, “I don’t give a damn how you feel, sort it out yourself,” before threatening to leave the show.

By 11:30 p.m. that night, their argument was so loud that it could be heard throughout the Block grounds.
At that point, executive producer Justin Sturzaker weighed in, noting that the couple had had heated arguments in the past.
“It seems like a relationship that’s getting pretty bad. Your neighbors can hear you, you know?” he told them.
Sturzaker then suggested that Paige and Jesse talk to the show’s psychologists.
“You don’t have to tell Jesse all your stuff. We have to get other people to talk to you, where you have to make a big decision,” he said.
The duo did so last weekend and announced on Monday that they had decided to leave the series.
“Health, wellbeing, happiness, is always at the forefront of The Block. We always make sure that the wellbeing of the participants is number one,” Scott said in a video posted to 9Now.
Paige said the past week had been a “cry for help”, adding: “It was like a black hole in my head”.
Host Scott Cam wished them well, saying: “We think you should go somewhere outside of civilization and fend for yourself.”
This came after a builder from The Block revealed what Jesse and Paige are really like, causing outrage from viewers.
Many viewers have criticised the couple’s on-screen ‘breakdowns’, but a builder has revealed what it was really like working with the pair.

“Thank you for trusting us to bring your ideas to life.”
The builder admitted that while the couple had “their moments,” it was never as bad as it seemed on screen.
They definitely had their moments, like any couple, but it was never as bad as it is portrayed [in the edit]’ he told Yahoo Lifestyle.
‘It is clear that what has been shown has happened and those conversations [took place]but there is so much more that is not shown, which makes it seem like their reactions and comments are completely out of line.’
