Scientists reveal the surprising flirt tactics that almost guaranteed a date
Over the years, ROM coms have given us a series of weird and beautiful flirting tactics.
In Legally Blonde, Elle Woods swears by her characteristic movement, the ‘Bend and Snap’, while the advice of Cher Horowitz in Clueless steering yourself flowers.
But if you are a single, it’s time to get away from the TV and turn to science.
A new study has unveiled a surprising flirt tactic – and scientists say it is almost guaranteed to be a date.
Researchers from the normal University of South China say that Singletons just have to ask their love interest for their help.
Applying for assistance not only indicates your romantic interest in someone, but also serves as an effective strategy to attract a partner, according to the experts.
“People will show their romantic interests towards a potential partner in a secret but detectable way when the relationship of the relationship is high,” the researchers explained.
“The current research showed that asking for dependency -oriented help can effectively convey romantic interests and can easily be detected and can be properly decoded by the intended recipients.”

In the study, the team assessed two different ways to ask for help.
This included ‘autonomy-oriented’, who asks someone for guidance, or ‘dependence-oriented’, who asks someone to do it for you.
Although asking someone to complete a task for you is often seen negatively, the scientists suggested that it could play a positive role in forming relationships.
The researchers carried out nine studies with a total of 2,535 participants and which include both hypothetical scenarios and Real-World interactions.
In one study, for example, participants were shown daily challenges, such as buying a bookcase, planning a travel schedule, choosing a bottle of wine or repairing a defective device.
They were asked to choose between requesting guidelines to solve the problem or to ask the helper to solve the problem for them.
Another study included the participants to evaluate a scenario in which a potential partner asked for help in different ways and then to assess their interest in the person afterwards.
Analysis, published in the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, revealed that someone asked to do something for you, could serve as a strategic signal of romantic importance.

When participants were exposed to romantic instructions, such as spending time with a desirable person, they had more inclined to ask for help by asking someone to do something for them.
They discovered that participants who provided help showed a greater romantic interest in a person when they were asked to do something for them, rather than just giving guidance.
The researchers also discovered that people who were already in romantic relationships would probably see others who asked their partner to complete a task for them as a ‘partner offer’.
They added that ‘revealing weakness and forfeiting autonomy’ can have benefits in some situations.
The team said that people can hide their weakness and vulnerability from strangers and are cautious to seek dependency -oriented help to prevent them from being caught in an ‘inferior’ position.
However, trusting a partner and having personal problems ensure is a must because couples have to work closely together to tackle things, such as paying a mortgage or raising a child, they added.
