Health-conscious consumers may soon be adding a rather surprising item to their shopping cart: breast milk.
Scientists have developed an adult supplement designed to mirror human milk.
The white powder, which can be added to smoothies or breakfast cereals, is said to have tremendous benefits in fighting inflammation, improving gut health and aiding muscle recovery.
Natural ingredients such as mushrooms and algae were used to create 1,500 functional milk protein blends by Israeli food tech company Maolac.
Maya Ashkenazi, co-founder of the company, came up with the idea while nursing her first child.

She said, “I told myself this is the ultimate mammalian superfood. I realized that we could use all the good things to create something.’
Two formulas, sold under the brand name Maolactin, will target professional athletes to the elderly.
They could hit stores early next year, and Maolac insists they weren’t lab-grown.
