Dozens of schoolchildren have been rushed to hospital after a school bus collided with a truck.

Emergency services were called to the crash site in Eynesbury, outside Exford, west of Melbourne’s CBD, at 3:43 p.m. on Tuesday.

The collision caused the bus to flip on its side.

There were no fewer than 45 children on the bus at the time.

Six were briefly trapped on board but have since been freed, according to the Country Fire Authority (CFA).

Dozens of schoolchildren have been rushed to hospital after a school bus collided with a lorry west of Melbourne on Tuesday afternoon.

Several school children were rushed to hospital, some were treated on the spot by paramedics.

An air ambulance has been called.
