Scheana Shay reveals plans to have a second child with Brock but will opt for surrogacy or adoption

Vanderpump Rules star Scheana Shay says she’s ready to have a second child with husband Brock Davies via surrogacy or adoption — two years after giving birth to their daughter Summer Moon after a tragic miscarriage in June 2020.

Scheana, 37, talks about her baby plans during an appearance on the Undressed with Pol and Patrik podcast, where she says she’s researching the fertilization of eggs she had frozen in June 2019 – before her wedding to 30-year-old Brock .

While talking about her desire to expand her family, Scheana says she’s “not getting any younger” when asked if she would give their daughter Summer Moon — who was born in April 2021 — a sibling.

However, the mother of one child says she does not want to get pregnant and give birth again – she experienced a “traumatic childbirth” when she gave birth to her daughter. Instead, the reality star says she and Brock will turn to surrogacy — or even consider adoption.

“I had a very traumatic birth. We miscarried before,” Scheana recalls. “I think the next step is to fertilize my frozen eggs. See if one can turn into an embryo. Consider a surrogate. Or consider adoption. Or even consider rolling the dice and hoping for the best.”

Scheana’s baby journey began in January 2019 – almost a year before she met her husband Brock, an Australian rugby player, at a music festival.

It was during this time that Scheana froze 16 of her eggs and shared the experience with her fans on Instagram.

Alongside a photo of herself smiling in a hospital bed, Scheana discussed her reason for having the procedure done.

‘Today is the day! Bye eggs! For me personally, this was a very easy, painless and wonderful experience. Everyone is different I’m sure,” she wrote.

“I’m single and a long way from trying to have a baby. So for me – yes, this was an easy process and when I say painless I am referring to the needles which I have no problem with.”

Scheana said her doctors warned her about a health problem that would cause complications several years later after Summer was born.

“My AMH levels were only .28, which is insanely low for my age. That’s disappointing to discover.’

‘It was a great experience to see what is involved in egg freezing. My doctor strongly recommended that I do this to have a better chance of having a healthy baby in the future,” she added.

I have learned so much about fertility and all that is involved with egg freezing and IVF. You never know what will happen in life.’

“I’m not trying to have a baby right now so this was an easy decision for me to make and luckily I’m lucky enough to be able to afford it.”

Scheana remained single until November 2019 when she fell hard and fast for Brock.

In May 2020, Scheana told Bravo’s Maria Menounos that she planned to have children with Brock, who was already a father.

“I want at least two, and he already has two. So I think four is a good number for him. If I accidentally get pregnant naturally, there will also be twins in my family.’

“If I have twins, I’ll definitely try again for a girl,” she said during her Bravo interview.

Two months later in June 2020, Scheana revealed on her Scheananigans podcast that she learned she was pregnant a few weeks earlier.

While celebrating Brock’s birthday with drinks, she started vomiting. At first she assumed it was the mixed drinks they were drinking.

After taking a pregnancy test, she learned she was pregnant – and the two were delighted.

“I didn’t think I could get pregnant on my own,” Scheana said. She then told fans the devastating news – that she had miscarried the child.

While celebrating the great news, Scheana said she “started bleeding all weekend, and it didn’t stop.”

The bleeding stopped when she started taking progesterone supplements, but an ultrasound later revealed that her unborn baby had no heartbeat.

“There were parts he could see where the fetus was starting to form and it just wasn’t happening. To be excited for a few weeks and then it’s gone so quickly. It’s still a lot to process,” she said during the podcast.

Luckily, Scheana and Brock got another chance at parenthood when she fell pregnant three months later in October 2020.

She revealed that their bundle of joy would arrive in April 2021.

Scheana gained 60 pounds during her pregnancy and on April 26, she gave birth to their daughter, Summer Moon.

Doctors induced labor for her pregnancy, which created yet another serious health problem for the new mother.

“Nearly 24 hours after being induced, my blood pressure was extremely high,” Scheana told her Instagram followers.

It got worse and turned into HELLP syndrome, a form of preeclampsia, in which high blood pressure can affect the liver and kidneys,” she wrote.

“My doctor said I was lucky, and we caught this just in time to treat, as it’s very unusual to be caught this late, in the postpartum,” Scheana wrote.

Scheana was put on a magnesium drip, which left her lethargic with flu-like symptoms.

In March 2022, Scheana and Brock revealed on the Scheananigans podcast that they had a timeline for baby number two.

Brock, who has two other children living in Australia, said: ‘I definitely looking forward to having one or two… I’m open.”

‘I think in a few years. Originally, before I had any complications, I had such a great pregnancy, there were no complications until we were clearly in labor.”

“I thought we were going to try to conceive again this summer, so they were about the same age. Like, oh my god, that’s so fast… not at all,” Scheana said.

Scheana and Brock discussed their upcoming baby plans on the Undressed podcast, hosted by fashion designer Pol Atteu – who designed her wedding dress – and his partner Patrik Simpson. Their show Gown and Out in Beverly Hills is currently in its fourth season on Amazon prime.
