Schapelle Corby takes a tour of Fremantle jail
Schapelle Corby takes a tour of Fremantle Prison – after celebrating nine years since she was released from prison in Bali following drug trafficking conviction: ‘Who would have thought?’
Schapelle Corby seems like the last person who wants to see the inside of a prison.
But the convicted drug smuggler, who previously spent nine years in Bali’s Kerobokan prison, paid a visit to Western Australia’s historic Fremantle prison this week.
The 45-year-old enjoyed a nighttime tour of the heritage prison followed by a beer in the pub, and shared her adventures on Instagram.
“Bloody hell, who would have thought I’d be interested in a prison tour huh!” she joked in her comment alongside a series of images from the tour.
“I’m really into history, so I was very intrigued to take a nighttime tour of this historic World Heritage-listed prison by torchlight,” Schapelle added.

It comes after Schapelle celebrated the ninth birthday since she was released from Kerobokan Prison earlier this year.
“I felt sick in my stomach and I felt some kind of burp of trauma just come in and settle in my stomach and try to take over my mind,” she said of the debilitating experience in a social media post.
Schapelle revealed she would mark the milestone by drinking a Pina Colada with her mom, going for a swim and giving away one of her custom resin clocks to a fan.
“I want to celebrate the day — because it’s a good day — with something that really engages me and has been such a healing process for me,” she said.

In October 2004, Australian Schapelle Corby became a household name when the then 27-year-old beauty student was arrested at Bali’s Ngurah Rai Airport with 4.2kg of marijuana in her boogieboard bag, a crime she has always denied.
Seven months later, the world watched as Corby famously collapsed in court while being sentenced to 20 years in prison.
After a series of reduced sentences, Corby was paroled in February 2014 after nine years behind bars.
After living in Bali for three years, she was deported back to Australia in 2017 and is now a bespoke clockmaker living on the Gold Coast.
