Scary Movie is back! Franchise will be rebooted 11 years after Scary Movie 5 was released
Scary Movie is being rebooted 11 years after the last film – Scream 5 – was released in theaters.
The new version of the famous franchise was unveiled by Paramount at CinemaCon on Thursday The Hollywood Reporter.
Paramount will distribute the film and Miramax is financing it, the outlet said.
The film, which is being produced by Neal H. Moritz, is expected to begin filming in the fall.

Scary Movie was developed by Keenen Ivory Wayans, Marlon Wayans and Shawn Wayans.
They wrote and directed the first two installments of the franchise.
Marlon and Shawn also starred in the first two films.
Scary Movie was released on July 7, 2000 and served as a parody of popular horror films at the time, including I Know What You Did Last Summer and Scream.
The film starred Carmen Electra, Shannon Elizabeth, Anna Faris, Jon Abrahams, Reginal Hall and Kurt Fuller – alongside Marlon and Shawn.
Scary Movie became a major worldwide hit, grossing over $278 million at the box office.
