Scary moment Ravens’ Justice Hill lies motionless with head injury before being ruled out with concussion

Scary scenes unfolded in Baltimore when running back Justice Hill was left motionless after a collision against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The game was tied at 7-7 in the second quarter when Hill sprinted quickly down the left flank with the ball.

Hill’s run had covered 25 yards when he approached the sideline and was tackled by Steelers safety Domantae Kazee. The Pittsburgh safety landed low in his attempt when Hill’s momentum threw him up on contact.

After becoming airborne, Hill landed awkwardly on his head, shoulder and neck at high speed.

The running back stood motionless on the turf for several moments, causing concern on the Ravens’ sideline. Coaches, players and staff immediately noticed the injury and signaled medical staff to assist.

Fortunately, Hill got up to walk off the field after the scare. He was subsequently removed from the game due to a concussion.

Chris Nowinski, Ph.D, a neurologist specializing in CTE research, posted a clip of the tackle and spoke about the consequences of American football.

“Justice Hill was knocked unconscious here when his head hit the ground. He has been confirmed to have a concussion,” he wrote.

‘These men do very dangerous work for our entertainment. Some of these brain injuries have longer-term consequences, for which we need better answers.’

Although the injury temporarily shocked the Ravens, they still recorded a 34–17 win and their second straight win.

Hill left the game with 30 yards in two carries. With his season likely over, the Oklahoma State product has racked up 45 carries for 198 yards and a touchdown while rushing.

He also received 42 passes for 383 yards and three touchdowns.

The Ravens are 10-5 atop the AFC North with games against the Houston Texans and Cleveland Browns on deck.

Baltimore already clinched the fifth seed in the AFC playoffs.
