Scarlette Douglas gives fans health update after painful leg injury

Scarlette Douglas gave fans an update on Saturday after undergoing an MRI scan following a painful leg injury she suffered in training for this year’s upcoming Soccer Aid.

The 36-year-old television presenter told her social media followers this week that she had “ruptured my left calf/Achilles tendon” and was forced to rest while waiting for her scan.

I used to be a celebrity… Get me out of here! Campmate Scarlette, who will be participating in Soccer Aid in June, took to Instagram this weekend to share a clip of herself having her scan, which looked at the bones and muscles in her leg in detail.

She thanked her fans for their prayers and well wishes as she told them she wouldn’t need surgery to repair her limb, but admitted it would take “a lot of work” to recover from her injury.

She wrote: ‘MRI scan done and results are in! First of all a big thank you to the @oryonimaging clinic and the legendary physio that is Colin Lewin at the @thelewinclinic.

Fortunately, what was initially speculated to be a partial Achilles tendon tear is actually a grade 2b soleus tear. (Grade 3 is the worst).

“The soleus is the lower part of the calf muscle that connects the main calf muscle to the Achilles tendon.

‘It’s super painful, but with lots of good physio, rest and the right exercises I’ll be back in time for Soccer Aid!

“Remember, this is a small setback for a big comeback, and believe me when I say come what may, I will be fit enough to play at least 5/10 minutes on that pitch at Old Trafford.

‘Nothing can stop me!! Thanks again to all of you who reached out and thought of me.”

A day earlier, Scarlette gave her fans an insight into how far she would go to speed up her recovery and feel comfortable after her injury.

She shared a clip of herself on Instagram taking an ice bath and squeezing and resting her leg.

She wrote, “Okay so #TheLongRoadToRecovery has begun!

“If you haven’t seen my Stories, you don’t know I tore my left calf/Achilles tendon soccer practice.

“I’ll know how bad it is when I get the results of my MRI scan, but until then I’m resting as much as possible.

“The moment I felt my calf ping, like an elastic band, I took my weight off, went home and froze it.

“Remember if you ever injure yourself RICE = Rest, ice, compress and elevate.”

“You’ve been with me on my road to fitness, now it’s all about the road to recovery.”
