Scarlett Johansson suits up on set of Jurassic World Rebirth with co-star Rupert Friend in NYC

Filming for the upcoming new installment in the Jurassic World franchise has moved to New York City.

On Saturday, two of the stars of Jurassic World Rebirth, Scarlett Johansson and Rupert Friend were spotted filming a scene on the busy streets of Manhattan.

Initially, after her hair, makeup and wardrobe were done, the actress was seen heading to the set wearing a blue suit and white top with white sneakers and dark sunglasses.

She was seen filming in the backseat of an SUV with co-star Friend, who was sitting in the front driver’s seat.

The new sci-fi action film, which follows Jurassic World Dominion (2022), is the seventh film in the Jurassic Park franchise and features an all-new cast led by Johansson.

As filming for Jurassic World Rebirth comes to a close, Scarlett Johansson, 39, headed out to film a scene with co-star Rupert Friend in an SUV on Saturday.

Johansson got into the backseat of the SUV at the scene, while Friend acted as driver

Friend, a British actor who many people know from the political thriller series Homeland, looks relaxed while filming while sitting in the front seat.

Between takes, the two actors had several conversations, which were probably about work.

He plays Martin Krebs, a pharmaceutical sales representative, while Johansson plays Zora Bennett, a veteran covert operations expert in the new reboot of the franchise.

The set took place in front of the Shake Shack restaurant and featured a group of at least four people in hazmat suits updating the area and spraying some type of liquid in an area that looked like sand.

That could mean that this particular scene will have a lot of special effects and CGI that will be done in post-production.

In addition to Johansson and Friend, the cast also includes Mahershala Ali, Jonathan Bailey, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, Luna Blaise, David Iacono, Audrina Miranda, Philippine Velge, Bechir Sylvain and Ed Skrein.

‘Five years after Jurassic World Dominion, an expedition braves isolated equatorial regions to extract DNA from three enormous prehistoric creatures for a groundbreaking medical breakthrough,’ IMDb reports on the premise of the story.

As covert operations expert Zora Bennett, Johansson’s character is “contracted to lead a skilled team on a top-secret mission to secure genetic material from the world’s three largest dinosaurs,” according to Universal Pictures, as reported by Wikipedia.

After the leading lady got her hair, makeup and wardrobe done, she went inside, wearing a blue suit with a white top and sneakers.

“I’m a huge fan of the franchise and a huge nerd for it. I’m like, ‘I can’t even do it, I’m pinching myself,'” Johansson added, before admitting, “I’ve been trying to get into this franchise in any way I can for over a decade.”

When Zora’s operation intersects with a civilian family whose boat expedition is capsized by marauding aquatic dinosaurs, they all end up on an island where they come face to face with a sinister, shocking discovery that has been hidden from the world for decades. ‘

Gareth Edwards serves as director, working from a screenplay by David Koepp, who co-wrote the first two original films Jurassic Park (1993) and The Lost World: Jurassic Park (1997).

Steven Spielberg returns as executive producer of the project, a joint venture production between Amblin Entertainment and Universal.

Johansson was first seen in her new role in the Jurassic World film with Jonathan Bailey, which would have been shot in Thailand or the island of Malta, the first two shooting locations on the reel.

Acclaimed actor Mahershala Ali is also seen in the first images from the Rebirth set

Rebirth is the seventh film in the film franchise and follows Jurassic World Dominion (2022), which reunited the original trilogy stars Laura Dern, Sam Neill and Jeff Goldblum with the newer cast led by Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard.

The franchise started with Jurassic Park (1993), starring Laura Dern, Sam Neill, Joseph Mazzello and Ariana Richards, along with Jeff Goldblum.

Principal photography began in mid-June in Thailand and lasted about a month until production moved for another month to Kalkara on the Mediterranean island of Malta, located in Southern Europe.

From there, the shoot went to Sky Studios Elstree in London, England in August for another round before heading to New York City in late September for the latest scenes to be shot.

With a lot of post-production work left after the set is completed, Jurassic World Rebirth will hit U.S. theaters on July 2, 2025.
