Scarlett Johansson, Emma Watson and Sofia Richie lead the front row glamour as Prada unveils its latest womenswear collection at Milan Fashion Week

The great and good of film and fashion came to the fore in Italy’s style capital on Thursday afternoon as Prada unveiled its latest collection during Milan Fashion Week.

Scarlett Johansson, Emma Watson and Sofia Richie were among the first high-profile newcomers outside of Fondazione Prada as the celebrated fashion house presented its Spring-Summer 2024 womenswear collection.

As she walked in, Hollywood star Scarlett, 38, turned heads in an elegant cross-strap dress from the high-end brand, fastened with a black leather belt.

She completed the look with strikingly shaped heels, while the cloudy weather didn’t stop her from wearing a pair of heavily tinted sunglasses.

Opting for a stylish black halterneck mini dress – Prada’s take on the classic LBD – Emma, 33, stood out as she greeted onlookers ahead of the first look presentation.

Black stiletto heels maintained an understated color scheme, while a simple leather handbag was her only statement accessory.

The Harry Potter star drew even more attention to her subtly proportioned features by opting for deft makeup accents selected from a natural color palette.

Meanwhile, Sofia, 25, deviated from classic black and instead opted for a smart red turtleneck and elegant Prada pencil trousers.

The adopted daughter of Motown legend Lionel Richie completed the look with a sophisticated plaid coat, while black heels continued a recurring trend among guests at the exclusive event.

Other guests on the day included British actor Benedict Cumberbatch, whose floral shirt and cream Prada coat saw him claim his own share of the spotlight.

Elsewhere, French actor Vincent Cassel, Spanish singer Rosalia and American actress Diana Silvers were also seen walking in ahead of Thursday’s show.

Milan kicked off its catwalk calendar on Wednesday, when Italian luxury label Fendi explored the ‘ease of dressing with a certain Roman freedom’ during its women’s fashion show.

Milan Fashion Week follows the events in New York and London where designers presented their creations for spring/summer 2024.

At Fendi, founded in Rome in 1925 and now part of French luxury conglomerate LVMH, designer Kim Jones combined the “masculine tailoring” of leather jackets with materials, such as children’s mohair, that convey “a more fluid and feminine sensibility.”

Models, all wearing leather gloves, paraded among giant white bags, dressed in warm browns, beiges and oranges, as well as a soothing sugar paper color and the occasional lemon yellow.

A patchwork of fabrics reproduced Fendi’s F logo on jackets and dresses through “a playful and abstract exploration” of the symbol that Karl Lagerfeld created in 1966, a year after joining the Roman brand as creative director.

The logo has been reinterpreted in several ways over the years and emerged as a double F in a square. Additionally, the color palette is largely taken from Largerfeld’s 1999 spring/summer collection, Fendi said.

‘In Rome there is an elegance in ease and not caring what anyone thinks – that is the real luxury. I wanted to reflect that in this collection,” Jones said in fashion notes.

“It’s not about the spectacle of being looked at, it’s about the reality of wearing it and the confidence and chic that comes with it,” he added.

Milan Fashion Week includes 62 physical fashion shows of spring-summer collections.

It runs until September 25 and features shows from high-end labels including Giorgio Armani, Prada, Dolce & Gabbana and Versace.

Milan Fashion Week marks the debut of Sabato De Sarno as creative director of Gucci, Peter Hawkings as creative director of Tom Ford and Simone Bellotti as creative director of Bally.
