Outspoken soccer pundit Lucy Zelic EXPLODES over Socceroos cult hero Jason Cummings’ ‘disgusting and tacky’ nickname, but some fans think she should relax
Socceroos star Jason Cummings’ nickname ‘Cumdog’ is in vogue again and SBS analyst Lucy Zelic has had enough, calling on people to stop using the nickname ‘tacky’.
Zelic took to social media to express his displeasure at the nickname after Optus Sport shared the story about French star Olivier Giroud’s snubbing of Cummings at the FIFA World Cup on Twitter.
Zelic is not impressed with Cummings’ nickname, which has been a regular trend on social media and has exploded again.

Speaking on The Project, Cummings revealed that he had begged the Chelsea star for his shirt in Qatar, saying: ‘Giroud please man, can I get your shirt man? I’m a big fan, can I get your shirt?
‘And he just walked right past me, pretending he never spoke English! And he has been in the Premier League for 10 years! He Just walked past me!
Optus Sport carried the story by using the Scottish-born striker’s nickname ‘cumdog’, which immediately angered Zelic.
‘Please, please, for God’s sake, can we stop calling him this awful nickname? He has represented our country for God’s sake. This is just disgusting and in poor taste,” he tweeted.
One fan pointed out that the term has a much more derogatory meaning that should be taken into account.
“I think Lucy is referring to the meaning of common slang used derogatory towards women. Of course she is a Cummings name in this case but still a horrible term,” they tweeted.
According to Urban Dictionary, a cumdog is: ‘A dirty s*** from your local town. The city of shit’.
‘I made the mistake of simply entering ‘cumdog’ in the Twitter search. The results were an eyesore,’ another fan responded.
Regardless, most fans were quick to take down Zelic as a ‘guardian’ and asked him to loosen up.
‘Can we instead stop policing Australian rules football? Not everything needs to be romantic and serious 100% of the time. Why can’t we lean on our culture of Larakinism and have that as a strength of our game?’ replied a fan.

‘He chooses to go for it. Make sure you pronounce it correctly, yes, like you do with everyone else,” posted another, referring to Zelic’s pronunciation of international player names.
“He chose that nickname for himself, Lucy, it’s not that deep,” added another.
Cummings previously admitted the nickname was self-inflicted during a Socceroos Q&A on Instagram.
“I got that nickname…it was my wrestling nickname,” he explained.
