Savannah Chrisley reveals mom Julie’s heartbreaking words to her after her tax evasion sentence was overturned

Savannah Chrisley has revealed the heartbreaking words her mother, Julie, said to her after her sentence was overturned, begging her daughter to stay with her.

The 34-year-old is fighting for her parents’ freedom after they were jailed in 2022 for tax evasion.

At the time, Julie, 51, was serving a seven-year prison sentence for bank fraud and tax evasion, along with her 55-year-old husband, Chrisley Knows Best star Todd Chrisley, who was sentenced to 12 years.

However, on Friday, a panel of judges from the U.S. Court of Appeals re-evaluated Julie’s sentence and decided to overturn it.

Savannah, who acts as a sort of extra mother to her younger family members, has now shared the bitter truth about the ‘really big news’, telling how her mother’s reaction ‘broke her heart’.

In an episode of her Unlocked podcastSavannah discussed the overturned sentence and gave an update on her mother’s mental health.

She said Julie felt a lot of emotions surrounding her release.

Savannah said, “She was like, ‘I know you want to live your own life and I want that too, but for the first few months, you’re going to have to stay with me.'”

The 34-year-old admitted it “broke her heart” when she heard those words.

Savannah indicated that she wanted to ensure that her mother’s mental health would be a priority after her release.

She added: “I need to let her process things. There’s going to be a lot of things when she gets home that aren’t going to be easy and the PTSD that these men and women suffer from being in prison is horrible.”

The 34-year-old reality star said her goal was to welcome her mother home for Thanksgiving after her seven-year sentence was overturned.

She confessed that if her mother could come home in time for the holidays, life would be “much better.”

Now Savannah, who acts as a sort of bonus mom to her siblings, is overjoyed with the “really big news”

“Now we’re waiting, hopefully no longer than 90 days to go to that hearing. Hopefully she comes home. When she comes home, oh my god, life will be so much better.

“I’m aiming to have her home for Thanksgiving.”

Savannah also explained that she was concerned about the increased attention she and her siblings would receive when her mother came home.

On Friday, a three-judge panel of the 11th U.S. Court of Appeals decided to reevaluate Julie’s sentence.

Julie was initially found responsible for the fraud dating back to 2006, but the judge has now ruled that there is no evidence of her involvement before 2007, partially exonerating her from the conspiracy. The sun reported.

Julie’s case will now return to a lower court for a new sentence, opening up the possibility of a potentially shorter prison sentence for her sentence, despite what the appeals panel called a “limited issue.”

“We are pleased that the court decided that Julie’s sentence was unjust, but we are also disappointed that Todd’s appeal was denied,” Alex Little, an attorney for the couple, said in an email to the AP.

The reality couple was found guilty in July 2022 of conspiring to defraud local banks of more than $30 million in fraudulent loans.

The Chrisleys were also found guilty of tax evasion, hiding their income while displaying an extravagant lifestyle.

Todd was sentenced to 12 years in prison and his wife Julie was sentenced to seven years. She will go to prison in January 2023.

Since then, Savannah has been raising her 17-year-old brother Grayson and 11-year-old niece Chloe, while filming a new reality show with the kids, her 27-year-old brother Chase Chrisley and Nanny Faye.
