Savage blow for Sam Kerr’s fiancee as couple’s year from hell gets even WORSE

  • Football stars are experiencing a year they would rather forget
  • Kerr has suffered serious injuries and a legal scandal
  • Now Mewis has received some shocking messages

Sam Kerr’s fiancée Kristie Lewis has been cut from the US soccer team for the Paris Olympics, a move that has left soccer fans in shock.

The 33-year-old has scored seven goals in 53 appearances for her country since first being selected in 2013, but suffered an ankle injury in April and struggled to find the net for the San Diego Waves team.

Mewis, who also played for West Ham in the English Women’s Super League, will now watch the Games alongside Kerr, albeit off the pitch. The Matildas superstar is not attending the Games for Australia due to a serious knee injury.

The news comes as the football couple wants to forget a year.

The Matildas captain has been sidelined after suffering a serious knee injury in January. This prevented her from playing when Chelsea won the Women’s Super League title for the fifth year in a row.

It was the culmination of a shocking start to 2024 for the 30-year-old, who was charged with racially abusing a police officer in a shock announcement in March.

She pleaded not guilty, but suffered a further setback when her defense’s attempts to have the charges dismissed failed, resulting in her appearing in court for four days in February of the following year.

Mewis had been injured while playing for West Ham in February and was unsure whether she would be available to play for the US in the Olympics when she was interviewed in March.

The couple recently got away from it all on a luxury vacation to Mexico’s Baja coast, where they dressed to the nines for a meal at their five-star hotel, hung out in their room, rode ponies and even watched a performance by an artist who dances with fire while twirling her hair.

The US selection committee and manager Emma Hayes, who until recently coached Kerr at Chelsea, made another highly controversial decision when they left USWNT legend Alex Morgan out of the 18-player Paris squad.

She has been a permanent member of the team since 2010. In her 224 appearances for the team, she scored 123 times. This makes her the top scorer that can be selected.

“I am disappointed that I did not have the opportunity to represent our country on the Olympic stage. This will always be a tournament close to my heart and I take immense pride in putting on the badge,” Morgan wrote after receiving the news.

“In less than a month, I look forward to supporting and cheering on this team along with the rest of the country.”

The US women’s national team is under fire after Korbin Albert was controversially selected for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris despite sharing anti-LGBTQ+ posts on social media.

The midfielder has been booed during recent national team matches, but she was one of 18 players named to the squad this week by coach Emma Hayes.

The selection raised eyebrows given the reaction to Albert’s social media activity from her own teammates.

Albert previously reposted a video of a Christian service preaching against homosexuality and transsexuality.

In another TikTok post – which has since been deleted – Albert showed her family saying “their pronouns are US” over the Fourth of July weekend.
