Aussies have slashed the ‘ridiculous’ price of sausages and bread sold on a popular Sydney beach as hundreds of people flocked to a major outdoor art exhibition.
Dozens of visitors were charged as much as $6 for the meal served with sausage at the Surf Life Saving Club in Tamarama Beach on Saturday.
The iconic Bunnings version of the Australian tradition, sold by community organizations outside the hardware store, costs $3.50 with onions, while cans of drinks remain under $2.
Australians were unimpressed by the high price tag at the Sydney event, with one person taking to Reddit to express his anger.
“Wurst sizzle prices are getting ridiculous,” the person wrote.
“This was in Tamarama today.”
The user uploaded a photo of a sign on a table that read “Sausage Rolls $6,” with two images of hot dogs on the side.
Dozens of commentators were also outraged.

“Our culture is slowly disappearing before my eyes,” someone else wrote.
Others called it a joke, saw the funnier side and suggested the sausages were expensive because they were sold in an affluent part of Sydney.
“The upper class doesn’t really have much contact with the cuisine of the working class,” one person wrote.
“Tamarama? There’s your first mistake,” someone else joked.
Some defended the cost of the meal, saying many eateries sell the classic Australian dish for the same amount.
“Sausage rolls cost $4 to $8 at a bakery or cafe. What’s the problem?’ wrote one person.
Hundreds of people gathered on the beach to view outdoor art installations as part of the Sculpture by the Sea event.
Every year, the world’s largest outdoor sculpture exhibition is held along the Bondi to Tamarama coastal walk.
The Tamarama Surf Life Saving Club (SLSC) uploaded several posts on Instagram last week encouraging visitors to raise money for the club.
‘Every weekend during the fair, Tamarama SLSC organizes a sausage sizzling party in the clubhouse. Come along, have a bite to eat and help us raise money to keep our club strong!’ they wrote.
Dozens of social media users branded the price of the sausage rolls as a joke (pictured people were served sausage rolls at Sydney’s Tamarama Surf Live Saving Club)
‘Enjoy the art, the beach and a classic Aussie problem – all while supporting your local surf lifesavers.’
A few months ago, Aussies were also left fuming over food at Vivid in Sydney.
A social media influencer who documented what she ate at the annual outdoor lighting festival revealed she paid $12 for a lemonade.
Social media users branded the sky-high prices as ‘insane’ and ‘expensive’.
“That’s my entire weekly shopping budget you spent in one day,” one person wrote.
“Crazy how these wouldn’t have cost more than $15 a few years ago,” another added.
