  • 'Five, six, seven years of rock 'n' roll football'… have Liverpool fans been spoiled under Jurgen Klopp? It all starts

Saudi football fans were treated to a star-studded legends match ahead of Friday's Club World Cup final between Manchester City and Fluminense.

While these two teams were rested in the run-up to the final of the spectacle, the stars of yesteryear came together at the Al Ahli Sports Club on Thursday evening.

Iconic players such as Kaka, Alessandro Del Piero, John Terry and Gilberto Silva played, as did FIFA president Gianni Infantino.

And yet the details of the match are extremely scarce, despite the fact that world stars are playing and a noisy crowd is in the stands.

Some fans uploaded clips of match action to Instagram, with a side interview saying Terry: 'It's nice to get out here and enjoy the sun!'

Infantino himself released a short Instagram reel that showed snippets in a one minute and 29 second clip, but no clear footage of goals or goal scorers.

The match took place after the 2023 FIFA Football Summit, but details about the game itself are scarce.

“During the FIFA Football Summit 2023 in Jeddah, I once again emphasized how FIFA strives to be an example of unity by bringing the world together with equality and without any discrimination,” Infantino, who took part in the match, said of the summit .

'The different competitions we organize show the world that it is possible to live together and be united in our emotions, but we must be clear: without referees there is no football.

Terry enjoyed it, but details of the match were scarce on social media

'We must all fight for the referees against any form of abuse and violence, but also to bring back respect and tolerance.

“And this starts with us, this starts with you, with the leaders of football, with the way we speak, with the way we act.

'It is our responsibility, because what we do has an impact on many girls and many boys, not only positively but also negatively.'

He added: “Finally, to all FIFA member associations in the six continental confederations, players, officials, staff, fans and stakeholders: thank you again for all you do.
