With just days to go until the midterms, Saturday Night Live presented a dose of cold reality in their cold opening, suggesting Democrats will take a big loss on Tuesday.
James Austin Johnson, who plays President Joe Biden, was seen in a moment of desperation “making some last-minute changes” to the list of Democrats running for office and instead bringing in candidates who have more star power.
“My fellow Americans. This Tuesday, our midterm elections will determine the fate of our democracy. And let’s say: big yikes!’ he started.

“People, I’ll do my best, I promise,” Biden said of the comedian as he portrayed the disoriented 79-year-old commander in chief. “I’m in the Platoon every morning to tempt fate.”
In quick succession, Biden introduced his other colorful characters, including “Mayor of Flavortown” Guy Fieri, rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine who he said would run for the Ohio Senate seat, and ex-porn star Stormy Daniels who ran for governor of Michigan.
“I may be a former adult star currently on season 7 of The Surreal Life, but I’m willing to lower myself and go into American politics,” Cecily Strong’s Stormy said.

“I want to work with everyone, and I’m willing to reach down the aisle to get things done,” she added in one of the cold open’s few funny lines. “I think it reaches down the aisle,” Johnson’s Biden replied.
As Biden showed off his army of potential Democratic stars, he also briefly referenced last week’s attack on Chairman Nancy Pelosi’s husband by alluding to the Republican attempts to suggest something erotic might be going on.
“A lot of you Redstate types finally have broadband internet so you can share your homoerotic fiction of Paul Pelosi with light speed,” he said. “By the way, you right-wing people love to come up with these little gay scenarios. Some kind of sus!’
Johnson’s Biden then made it to a list of legislative successes that have been drowned out by MAGA rhetoric.
He then noted how Barack Obama continues to be admired by campaign crowds. In real life, the former president was campaigning in Pennsylvania on Saturday.
“How do you think I feel about that?” asked Johnson’s Biden. “Do yourself a favor, Google ‘young Joe Biden,’ and start a bubble bath.”
